Do i need to know the river like the back of my hand?
I made this run last year and was told to just stick the AZ side and i would be fine. I was luckily and had no issues. i did float for a little ways (which turned out to be a perfect time). while floating down the water was less than a foot deep (i think around Needles). the way back seemed fine the whole way. The point of this question is that someone told me that only make that run if you know that part of the river really well or most likely could find some rocks. Headed out to Avi on memorial and wanted to run up that way a time or two. Just trying to see if there is some parts to really avoid.

Water level is low until about noon. It comes up quite a bit through the day.

Saturday we launched at jack smiths at 7:30 am and went to the avi. stayed to az side. made it in one piece but was hairy. don't look down or lift. Ride back at 4:00 was killer.

Jack Smith park is just South of the Needles bridge on the CA side. You would go South at the 4 way stop in Needles right before the bridge, go past the golf course till the road ends.

Theres only a few spots to worry about on that run when its low. First is right past the avi bridge go threw the center of the bridge and after about 100 yards or so head towards the az side. Stay about a boat length off the az side and head on down. The secondspot is when when you get the willow valley beaches, the sandy beaches on the az side, theres a good sand bar at the long beach, slow down and watch the water you will see the ripples wheres it hits it and head for the smooth water, the third spot is right after willow valley marina stick right on either bank and you will be fine. Then down just before the needles bridge theres a couple that off shoot from rock jettys after that your golden.
