Been thinking about safety. I'd hate for anything to happen doing something I love
Right now all I have is a higher end ski jacket. Thinking about a life line, any suggestions? Also how are they sized? I keep seeing numbers not sizes
Also a cut off switch incase I get wet. What's recommended?

Lifeline! Spend the money once.
Call and ask for Kent, sometimes they have used ones at the shop.

Just keep in mind, on public waters, a Lifeline is not USCG approved. I ran into it one time, it didn't cause any grief because I had an "approved" flotation device on the boat. Had I not, it would have resulted in a citation.
Sounds stupid, but totally true.
Also keep in mind, Mercury makes two different kill switches.
One for normal open and one normal closed. Mag versus powered ignition.

Hmm, I was afraid of that lol. Means I should have gotten one a while ago. Especially considering the way my boat "behaves" lol
How much do they run again? I was curious on the sizing too after I looked at their site a while back

On a side note, I notice that on a full pass stuff starts flying in my boat, including my backseat cushion which wants to wack me in the head. Think it needs more Velcro strips or something

According to the site they are anywhere from 500-1500.

I'm thinking the comp vest would be adequate for some river racing, just by reading the specs. What's everyone running?

That's the one I was thinking of too don't feel a chute is needed

Sounds like mostly the flak impact material in it. And maybe stronger construction?

I think it was jim mentioning to me one day that the chute can come over and drown you if knocked unconscious and is better suited to racing on the track where there's crews to pull you out of the water right away

. They can open and pull you under at the river. Chute should be used at the track only. I have never seen this happen but have been told by several people. A comp vest is a good jacket for the river guys. Call life line they sell re vetted used jackets I paid 380.00 for a used jacket that looks brand new.

I went with the chute jacket. You don't have to clip it off so the chute deploys but you have it

If you dont use the chute, and you dont plan to run your boat at the track. Whats the difference between the chute jacket and the comp jacket?

Your ski vest will come apart and off of you at anything past about 55mph.
The lifeline will not. They also have a collar and we'll hold you upright even with the added weight of a helmet, a ski vest will typically hold you face down with a helmet on. Besides that, the flotation is nearly double that if a ski deal. This holds your head higher out of the water. Think about a full face helmet.
