hey all, just want some advice on a sanger superjet i am thinking of gettin...what can you all tell me about the hulls and inherant problems with them??

Step 1: What do you plan on doing with it? Hot Rod, tubing, skiing, vessel assist.....

this is the kind of hull I would like...I think...I don't know much about there performance marks though...bj, what is a person wanted to do ALL those things( tubing, skiing, etc..)?... do you have a better recommendation? and lastly, what do you mean vessel assist?...

The vessel assist comment it's more of me just being an A-hole....without getting into the back story of it, I will say they are ok for all of the above....EXCEPT, AS A RESCUE BOAT! HA HA HA!
In my opinion, outside of ordinary "boating", you'd be hard pressed to find any decent hull that couldn't perform any of these task fairly easily and without too drama.
Style wise, they have everything you can think of, when it comes to a "Jetboat".
There were 2 bottoms and I know they ran pretty good in the straights so I'd say if the hull is in good, sound shape and the style is what you're looking for, but it!

Wicked! Thanks for the info! I live up in Washington for the time being... I used to hit up the river when I was younger and lived in temple city ca. After school up here the wife and I are headed to az ( hopefully prescott area) and ive already talked her into a getting a float :) as for my wishes and what ive been studying from scjb : 75-77 sanger/rodgers bubble deck( beer bottle brown/yellow) looks awesome w/ a N/A BBC, ott headers and a Berkeley split bowl w/ a place diverter. That all bein said...what do you think id expect to pay for something in fair condition/turnkey?
...I know its the wrong discussion arena but I had to start somewhere haha

Without giving something like that a complete one over myself I really couldn't tell you.
Hoping it hasn't sat out in any extended rain would be nice.
I would:
1.Eye the underside to see how straight it is.
They'll never be perfect but excess hook and/or rocker (high and low spots) WILL give you handling issues.

2. Check the floor for soft spots as well as the stringers.
3. Oxidation can be buffed.
4. I go in assuming the pump is going to rebuilt, for peace of mind.
4. Check all cylinders for compression along with a test drive.
5. Give the trailer a once over as well.
$3k and up.
Depending on condition.
BBC, Berkeley, droop and diverter, you're probably looking at a little more.

With the Sangers, check the bottom under the drivers seat. They tend to crack in that area.

i am kind worried about a 1/4 stringer boat.
at least that is what it looks like, not sure if stringer goes all the way up from under floor.

Most Sanger's (from what I've learned) are 1/4 stringer boats with foam under the subfloor. I'm in the process of sloooowly rebuilding Sanger sj, I removed 1/4 stringer, and will put in full stringers.

All SJ's are quarter stringers. As long as the floor is solid you will be fine. I plan on installing full stringers in mine hopefully next winter.
