Not going to make the AVI after all
« on: May 06, 2016, 11:22:47 PM »
First off glad we're back. So I posted in the AVI thread that we were staying the weekend with no Boat and hanging with everybody at the AVI this weekend. Plans have since changed. Last weekend me, my wife, girls, dog & our son met at the river house for a weekend of fun and relaxation. We took Sara ( our 11 1/2 year old lab) down to the river with us which we never do and BBQed hot dogs played in the water and had a blast. Sunday my son went back home to Saugus CA and the rest of us went back home to Prescott. We noticed Monday evening that Sara hadn't been eating. We thought that maybe she was depressed over our son Brandon not being here. By Tuesday afternoon I Had my wife take Sara to the vet. The vet ran blood test and X-rays. Fast forward to Wednesday and they think she could have valley fever or lymphoma. We do blood test for valley fever and lymphoma but we also do chest X-rays and they find masses in her chest. We are now waiting for results but Vet thinks it will not be good. We decide to cancel AVI trip as they do not except dogs. We are still waiting on results but we are feeding her human food so she will eat. We decided to come back to the river house this weekend and have a peaceful weekend with Sara and let her play at the beach and rest. Sorry we're gonna miss you all but Sara comes first  right now. This has our families world turned upside down right now. Wife and daughter alway crying. Hell I Never thought a 42 year old 6'4"230 lbs tough guy could ever cry so much when nobody is around. We will see you all on the next trip.

There are very few things that I would cry over, but I know losing our family dog would be one of them. They are a huge part of our lives. Best wishes for you and your pup!

Dude,

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Having had a big yellow Lab for 16 years and having to let her go a few years ago,  I can tell you this. Spend every minute you can with her.

I hope things turn out better than you think they ate going to.

My J.C. was the coolest pup on the planet (no disrespect to Sara) and losing her will stick in my head forever.

Thoughts to your baby. There are tears streaming down my face right now dammit.
