Seems like boating websites have been popping up like weeds lately. I find it humorous, but wish all of them the best of luck. I remember when I launched this site in 2006, it was just myself and HotBoat along with a few other smaller forums. Now there's an abundance of them.
I know you all have choices when it comes to where to go. Thanks for choosing SoCalJetBoats.
So post up - what brings you to SoCalJetBoats.com?

The people, hands down. I enjoy reading the build threads and all topics of discussion. Also like the fact that if I/you have a question about an issue with your boat, be it mechanical or fiberglass/hull wise someone here will be able to answer your question or point in a direction to get you squared away.

I found SCJB in April '07 when I started my search for a jet boat. I had been wanting to buy/build a classic jet boat when I got my membership at Emerald Cove on the Parker Strip. After camping at the river a couple times without a boat, the search was on!
I have been extremely lucky to have participated in almost every unofficial SCJB gathering, and met so many great people that I feel will be life long friends.
Thanks to Brad and SCJB for making it all possible.
As of now I've been logged in over 80 days, 10 hours, and 11 minutes... I'd try to find a support group for this problem but I hate hearing about other peoples problems ;)
-
This is still one of my favorites and I lurk often. Its just that you guys all live I'm BFE.
-
Definitely the people. When I got my first jet everybody was so helpful and even after selling it to make the family happy and going I/O every one is still so helpful. Thanks for the awesome site!!!

It's line a family even though peeps here may not b close it all comes down to the coming interest and that's boating. No matter what type of boat u own your bit discriminated in but welcomed and its a form of true boating and good times enjoying a passion that we all share. Plus this group can throw down drinks :)

I was looking into getting a jet and im on a forum for everything else so i searched "socal jet boat forum" hoping id find something with people in my area and BAN there it was. The people here are awesome, I have met a few and gotten alot of help from just about everyone that is regularly on the site. Everyones willing to help out or give advise and its like a big family. Hopefully ill be able to get my $hit box of a float on the water and meet everyone.
Also, I don't think any other site has a unofficial mascot in daisy dukes at their their gatherings.

I found scjb as soon as I was out of the navy in 08. I wanted a jet boat to continue going to the river like I did before the navy. I found the site by searching for jet boats. I lived right next to a few members flytime and brad. They helped me right from the beginning. I took my motor out of my boat in flytimes garage and beerjet came down to help. I have been hooked ever since. I have been to a lot of the gatherings and made some great friends. I have been through a few boats and finally came across the one I want. Thank you B RAD for all of the hard work and constant work you do to maintain the site. It doesnt fix itself or pay for itself.

you know, i saw this post go up and I've been thinking about the reasons ever since...when i first came here in december 06 it was really different, the site had just kicked off and there was a lot of newbies to jet boats (me included) and it seems that we all just fumbled along trying to figure it out.. the information of why, how and what was discussed. a few of us had just started racing the nostalgia jet class and we had really no idea what we were doing so it made it really fun to go try our luck, and to have the sponsorship of the site we were a part of and trying to grow made me feel like i was in the big leagues.. we went to every race and plastered our boats with socaljetboats stickers, we had banners, conopy's, coozies, t-shirts, team shirts and jackets all with the scjb logo. Man it was like i was in nascar (lol)
i met a lot of cool people, on my first ever river trip with scjb at the parker race, then brad had the first annual parker trip where i went to the river for the first time to relax. It was a great trip as well as all the others that my family has been to with scjb.
so i guess this place is like family for me and i need to give back with what ive learned along the way kinda like when you would teach a friend or family member how to do something they dont know how to do.... i could go on forever with the reasons..
thanks for the site

so....

There is these things on the site you can visit. I cannot tell you what they are directly or what to do with them, but they do help keep this place going. Please don't abuse them, just observe them and give them a little love along the way. They are legit (no popups or spyware/adware) and you dont have to purchase anything, just use your left mouse button on them ;)

I would love to get more involved like that again. Its tough enough to get myself to the races, let alone promote the site via sponsoring other drivers. Those were the days and we had fun doing it.

i googled "jetboats" four years ago and found SCJBs & never needed to google it again. this is a one stop jet boat website, i've met a couple of members in person, talk to others, have received great advise and in the spirit of SoCalJetBoats members, tried to offer my years of jet boating experience to others when needed. SCJBs is the only boat site i look at daily.
keep up the great work Brad  i know, you've always said the site is only as good as it members so with that said we must have a great members and that's why it feels like a family.

super newbie, just found your site this year and it's GREAT. fell in love with jet boats in the mid/late 70's as a teenager, then bought a 16' Cobra prop job in 83 and had some fun, but it was like dating my sisters best friend (it wasn't gonna last). fast forward almost 30yrs, I see a squirter on e-bay, bid and win. I travel to Page Az and meet a great guy who sells me his baby, and here I am. I may never meet you Brad, but thank-you for this site. I don't think it matters who we "pray to" or "vote for". I think we are all here for the same thing.........Jet Boats

Bought my 97 Ultra in September after a 16 year lay off from boating. Perused the site a few times and got some good tips. Took my son who was home from active duty in the USAF to the Avi in October for his 21st birthday. I had no idea SCJB was having a get together the same weekend. What a cool bunch of people. Had a great weekend. I'm hooked. Great site Brad!

After a move from SoCal to North Mississippi in 1998 (and a 14 year gap between boats) I went a little crazy this past summer and drove west and started looking for another boat.
After 3 days of driving from BHC to Parker.... and looking ...at about a zillion boats... I bought one...put it on the river for 4 hours...then loaded up and drove back to Mississippi.
At the end of the season here, I realized that just because I had another boat, (and since the boating here is radically different from where I grew up), I needed to be able to talk with, solicit advice from and maybe even get a few laughs too from some other jetboat owners...here I am.
I lurked a few other websites, but this one drew my attention. The posts seem genuine and helpful.
Perhaps one day, I will load up and head out to the river again for a couple weeks for a summer vacation.... but until then I appreciate any and all help... and if ya come thru Memphis...let me know, I know some great places for BBQ
-
welcome we love pics and BBQ

that 5150 dude and his cousin(?) told me about it and I figured eh hell, I'll go see what this is all about, seems like a good crowd around here although there should be more lower river stuff going on, we're not all from la :P
