Title: Scoop opinion...
Post by: GeneralLee on June 10, 2014, 05:15:00 PM
Need your guys opinion on this scoop. Didn't want to go with the usual super tall scoop that almost everybody has on their float so I decided on this one...

I guess my first question would be Yay or nay to run  this scoop???

Second question is, paint the scoop black with silver stripes or yellow with black stripes.

Need someone else besides me to visualize it cause wife doesn't give a fu+k as long as she's on the water lol.

Any input is greatly appreciated and I can take criticism. Btw the whole hull is yellow with silver all over it, interior is white and yellow. My front wind screen is black the splash guard is black and the pump is black. Headers will be coated black and the valve covers black.

Yep sure is.

I was thinking it's too big, but I'm liking it the more I look at it.

I think you would need some silver in there as well.
I would say paint it yellow with silver and black pinstriping. Not necesarily Von Dutch style, but some
striping to flow with the lines of the scoop. A thicker silver band with thin black pins on both sides around the base and then up tee up the back to the front of the scoop. Or after the tee up the back, have them split an go along the side of the top part of the scoop.

It would look killer if you could match the silver flake.

Just an opinion.

No offense but that's not working,  that boat has classic lines and needs an old school scoop like they ran back in the 60's

I like it, try to run it as low as possible. I saw a car that had the scoop plate sandwiched between the carbs and intake and the scoop was mounted so low it damn near covered the intake......looked wicked sweet

The scoops of this size don't really do anything to help performance. They sure look good to me. I I've always liked fiberglass scoops over the normal metal ones. I would do a yellow base and silver stripes with a small black pin stripe to break it up.

I might be able to flip the mounting plate and have the scoop sit 3 inches lower covering the carb and most of the intake. I'll give it a shot this weekend and post some more pics.

That is about going rate but if I have some left over paint to match can hook up better deal. Do you happen to know the colors besides knowing that it's yellow and gray hahaha

Looks freaking awesome. I'm digging the first one but maybe extend the silver all the way to the bottom edge. What do you think?

That's a good one. I have no idea on the colors...there's a pretty good shop here that do exact color matching. I can take the boat in and have them match it up.

If you go to the bottom edge will have to be the thickness of that flat spot or might look funny rolling over the edge but all depends on what you like. If you can get color match and paint can hook ya up!

There's a really good paint supply store here. Mom an pop. Every reputable body shop goes to them. Real cool people same guys that would match up the colors 99%. Depends how much the charge is for me just to bring the scoop to ya compared to getting my own stuff...either way I'll give you a call tomorrow. I don't need the scoop done for another 3 weeks.
