Seal leaking on jet
« on: May 03, 2022, 07:53:28 PM »
Hey all, seems that a leak has developed from the seal inside the boat where the shaft goes into the drive.  Has anyone seen this? Know what might cause the leak? Is it hard to replace? I also hear a grinding noise from the area while under power. Any input would be great. Thanks!

What is it leaking? Water? OIl? Is it the section where the shaft shows a little bit? If so, you can turn those two nuts a 1/2 turn or so to snug up the packing glands.

Grinding is signs of bad things. Could be your impeller and wear ring making contact. Worse it could be your thrust bearing going bad. If your thrust bearing is going bad, it can do damage to your motor.

Sorry it?s water, it?s allowing water into the boat. You can see a steady stream coming from that area down into the bilge. The shaft seems to have an ever so slight movement to it

Regrease the pump? Also check to see if rope seals are bad?
