Need some help, and advice
« on: July 02, 2015, 02:17:15 PM »
I took my boat out on Sunday, and it ran fine. But there was a howling coming from the pump I think. Took it for a afternoon pass, and all of a sudden I lost speed.  I was turning about 3500 and I was barely moving about 4mph. The bow wouldn't plain out no matter what. Temperature was low, but I did notice like a crunching every so often.
I crawled underneath and the intake was clear, and I removed the inspection plate and everything was fine.

Also how do I find out what model pump do I have. It's an American Turbine.

Hers some pictures.

suction may be saved if not eaten to far by using a shouldered wear wring and filling behind it.

OK here's another part. I know I'm taking water in on the intake. It's not sealed right. Could this also be part of my problem?

sorry it's sideways

I don't think so just another problem that would not create a howling  or grinding your pumps bad rebuild it or save what you can and reset your intake

If the water gets high enough to get into the bearing, the water will kill it.
