My favorite lake in the state.
Camp Edison is great and theres a cove just down from the campgrounds to leave your boat overnight.

A view of the marina at Camp Edison in the past week--will probably look different in August. You can even see some hard core fisherman taking out their boat at the snow covered ramp.
Here's another, taken a couple of days ago--probably 2X more snow than last several years--looking forward to full lakes.

Ah yes, Shaver lake. I think it is one of the best lakes anywhere--especially in August. Clean fresh air with temps in the 80s during August and water temp that is refreshing, but not too cold. Usually down to the 50s* at night--sweater/sweat shirt weather, but not too cold. Although there can be more boats on the weekends, during the week the boating consists mostly of aluminum fishing boats. Edison is a good place to camp with decent facliities including hot showers. The little village there has some excellent restaurants, quaint shopping, and Shaver Lake is the gateway to alot of other high sierra locations/day trips/fishing spots.

If anyone else wants to come up--it's about one hour NE of Fresno, let me know.

Its a great lake, very beautiful. However I don't recoment going on a busy weekend with a jet boat. I made three passes last fourth of July. It was like a damn ocean.

Yep, the 4th is the busiest weekend of the year--everyone with a boat, it seems, comes up for the fireworks show. They launch the fireworks from a little island out over the lake. Hundreds of pontoons and lots of boats watch from on the lake and thousands of people crowd the shorelines--it took me 2 hours to drive 5 miles back to our cabin after the show because of all the people.

Millerton is a nasty mud hole !!!  Out of all the local lakes around here Millerton is the worst, but its also the closest to town.
