Title: So...I went to Parker this weekend....
Post by: skee on August 03, 2008, 10:54:30 PM
First time I have been to Parker in probably 15 years, maybe 20....I went out this weekend and stayed at River Lodge Resort, the place was great!,but the River sucked!  :banghead:  Between the Big Boat's (that it appears all these guy's have something to prove  ::) >:()Hauling Ass down the River with NO REPECT for anybody else and in my opinion belong on the LAKE,the water was SO FUKKING choppy that if I had'nt been an experinced boater,I probably would have sunk my 18 1/2 foot Challenger jet boat. Anyway,I know this will probably piss alot of people off,but I needed to vent and just express my opinion on how i feel that some of these HUGE BOATS belong on a LAKE and not the River (it's just too narrow),but the worst part is,these guy's are doin' frikken 100 mph down the River with all the pleasure boater's/water ski'ers and the kids on the shore swimmin',that it's just not safe with some of the size of these boats! :o Anyway...I'll jump down off my pedestal now and just wait to see what kind of response I get from this thread and take it as it is...I just needed to vent, cus my boat almost got sunk just being anchored on shore from the wakes of some of these boats.... :banghead:

I will agree,  I am not too interested in going back to Parker due to the rough water I experienced there also.

I agree with you that the big boats belong on the lake.  IMO if its not a pontoon and over 24' it doesn't belong on the river.

Now if we could do something about the wake boats  >:D

I agree with you 100%. I have a friend who has a house at Echo Lodge in Parker. He has a 30' Magic and when my wife and go out there to visit we ALWAYS leave our boat at home! It just does not look like fun for a little boat out there! And I dont know whats with these guys who buy 100K-150K boats just to drive it on Parker. Pretty weak if you ask me...maybe they cant afford the gas to tow it anywhere else!
Next time you feel like boating Parker just drive 10-15 min. south and launch at Big River. No choppy water at ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

yup, i had been going to Parker for years, havent in quite a while. Fucn place is wall to wall houses and wakebarges/ jet skies. I some places you cant even pull over if you get into trouble cuz some assholes house is there. Water was rougher than Lake Mead. Wont be going there again anytime soon, place is a zoo like Laughlin.

I went down to Big River for the first time 4th of July weekend, and was very surprised with how good the water was.  I will be going back, even with the $17.00 launch/day use fee.

I havent been to Parker in years. I have always liked going to Park Moabi. It USED to be a great place to go all week including the weekends. Now its gotten to the point where the last 2 years our boats dont even leave the trailers on Saturday  Its a freakin zoo out there now.You have all those big assed boats coming from needles doin 100 plus, its like a dammnn super highway. Its a bummer for the kids, cause they like to do the floatin thing, jumpin and swimmin around the boat :( , but cant take a chance and get run over. Hell you can be in the middle of the river and they still have to run by you REAL close  I still think they need a size limit all through there. Just my .02. Back to your regularly scheduled thread  ;D

The lower river isnt much to look at but the water sure is great!
Everytime we've gone down to Big River or Lost Lake it has always been a relaxing weekend!
Good juju's about that place.
Curious to see what the Indians are going to do with that area after the lease is up in 16yrs.

Lower river (Martinez Lake area) has very few big boats. I agree they belong on a lake. It can get kinda rough on a big weekend but other weekends it is really nice. I think maybe there are fewer fast boats because of the lower water level (sand bars).
