Title: Stimulus Package
Post by: JWBOYER21 on February 02, 2009, 09:03:41 AM
Soooooo, i went and had my taxes done on friday (us marines get them done for free on base thankfully!).

when the tax lady tells me how much i was getting back, i asked why it was lower than last year. found out that i had to pay back the stimulus check that i received for me, the wife, and my son last year! so i start googling and it turns out that it was a non taxable money front. guess i should have read the fine line.  >:(

anyone else know about this?

So how does that work when they give a check to someone who doesn't pat taxes?  Does that mean they get another check to pay for the first check and then a check for this year which will be reimbursed next year? Sounds about right...

MSNBC.com Business section is saying that the stimulus checks last year is NOTtaxable but a ton of software packages aren't setup to calculate it that way and there are a bunch of tax preparers that don't know it.  JWBOYER21 take your return back to that preparer with a copy of the article and tell them to fix it. God knows we should not be screwing with you guys in the military.  I think all of your income should be tax free.
