Title: Stolen boat parts found in Havasu.
Post by: Marcsrollin on March 05, 2014, 10:10:24 AM
I herd that all the parts that were stripped off the boat stolen from Mcintyre park were found at Jet Boat Plus in Havasu.

Any body have any details on how they got there???

What is weird is the guy is paying them to put the boat back together. Something fishy going on here.

Every part has been recovered. I don't think mike will be using them. Agreed that something weird is going on.

I need to get the air cleared here as reputations are on the line.

Can someone confirm or dismiss that JetBoatPlus was involved in the theft of this boat?

:screwy: :screwy: :screwy: yo, this shit is crazy!!! I've been part of scjb for only 5 days or so and I've already seen two cases of boat theft....not just taking the valve caps off the trailer tires but actually the entire freakin boat!!??

Is boat thievery really that big of an issue?? are people really that blunt and idiotic at the same time? craziest thing is, is that these people are actually getting away with it??

What steps can/ are being taken to prevent/deter/catch these a**holes? cctv/ tongue locks/ motion detectors/ etc..

I'm kind of hoping is whoever is found at fault for taking these parts/entire boats is put on blast so we all know who to stay away from and keep a look out for...

Damn,, all I know is if jetboatplus had anything to do with the theft of that boat they are DONE FOR!!! The fact that all the parts were there is already a red flag to me. There supposed to be a big name shop so I would think they would know better then to take in "stolen parts".. Something weird is going on  :screwy:

Its really not THAT big of an issue in this community. I think the 2 cases you are referring to are the same one.

This one? http://www.socaljetboats.com/the-no-wake-zone/bolo-stolen-boat-in-blythe-recovered-in-needles/ (http://www.socaljetboats.com/the-no-wake-zone/bolo-stolen-boat-in-blythe-recovered-in-needles/)

Also, the boating community (not just jet boats) is very tight knit and word gets around quick. Mike Newmans boat (the one discussed here) damn near went viral across the internet when he announced it. I think that right there is enough to discourage anyone from doing such things.

yeah brad that's the cases are one in the same that im thinking of. not to sound outa place or harsh, but, if the community is so tight, then why did one jet boater do this to another jet boater in the first place? and if the guys parts have been "recovered", then why haven't they been returned to the rightful owner? or have they and im just not seeing that..?

There is always bad people in every situation of life. Best quote I have ever heard was "you can make a honest person dishonest if you give them the chance to get away with it".

As far as where the parts are, etc.....I know the authorities are involved and I am sure they are investigating it. This is all still panning out as I type. I have heard indirectly that JB+ was involved and someone is going to jail over it. This is UNCONFIRMED, but things arent looking good for JB+.

As far as what papaltech said about JB+ being paid to put it back together doesnt fit well with the story, but i know he would be a creditable source as to whats going on over there.

No one here knows much as to whats going on, but the good thing is the parts are found and the authorities are involved.

Just talked to mike, the owner of the stolen boat. Yes, jetboatplus is involved but the investigation is still pending. No one is guilty at this point but the parts have been recovered by the authorities. Mike said he would post the story once he gets a chance to sit down and type it out.

Wow!!! That bums me out to have a business in the city I live in be involved this BS. Being a small town you can all but guarantee that place is done. On the bright side it looks like the victim  will be able to get his boat put back together. I'm sure with the help from the  good people on this site it shouldn't take too long. I'm here in Havasu if I can do anything to help let me know.

Now I'm getting relieved. . Finally been a stressful and expensive couple of weeks.. As a tight knit boating community. .Me and family really appreciate everyone helping in making my flyers, posts, ads in every place I could.... For the record no one's putting my boat back together but people's we know, I know this was going around. .. But parts are in route out of there, so I hope that puts that rumor to bed. .I know a lot people that end up with shit stolen and it sucks.. Blow that shit up and get it out to. . There's just a chance you'll get your stuff back. .. Once again thanks ill post as the story if one evolves.

the only thing that strikes me as ODD is the fact of the clean removal Ive seen stolen boats and cars and what i remember is destruction of dashes transoms ignitions.... and so on here everything take out nice and neat stripped professi9nally as it were and EVERY PART in one spot seems to me even the dumbest criminal keeps something and or distibutes things further apart.. I think this is very fishy.. i.Not trying to stir the pot or point fingers just an observation... At least the good guy won this time glad you got your stuff back

For sure stripped by someone who knew what they were doing. Almost looks like they intended to strip, paint and re sell but something went wrong and dumped the boat. Should be finger prints all over that thing if the criminals haven't been found yet.

I know it still sucks, but just be glad they didn't strip the boat with a sawzall and destroy the boat.

Keep us posted on ALL the details.

It's still being investigated. . Problem is that there's 5 agency's involved and everyone is waiting on the next to send them the case... Riverside County is waiting finally for LHCPD.. To send the photos and info on the case. .my question is, if you are going to strip down and re gel you would all the parts would be in one area. . Labeled maybe. .. Not scattered around the around the shop, or missing. . Better yet damaged?

Mikes determination to get his boat back put some serious heat on this causing the cover to be pulled off this whole thing exposing Randy and his operation he was running. Sounds like it was a big deal going on for awhile now even linking the break in and theft of parts from the GN 24 Body Snatcher's race trailer that happened awhile back. No one will ever know the extent of it all but good thing hes now behind bars.

It's such a shame to have a shop with Jet Boat in its name involved and a black eye to my town I live in. It would be great to give that mother f'er some street justice. That being said hopefully some of the victims will get their shit back!!!  Props to you Mike for sticking it to him. I know it was a costly and stressful deal for you and glad to see you're back on the water!!!!!

I figured the shop was dirty from day one.

The story from the shop is that they were requested to pick up the boat at McIntrye and strip it for new gelcoat.

Boat was found stripped, but not even close for gelcoat. Bowrail, exhaust tips, fuel fills, lights, all still on the boat.

Glad Mike got all his stuff back. By the way, he texted me a pic last weekend of him at the river with the boat.

I don't know if I missed it but how was Jet boat Plus linked to mnewman's boat being stolen in the first place. Did he randomly walk in to the shop and see his parts or was he checking all of the boat shops from Needles to Blythe and finally found the right one? BTW...Great Job. You guys probably prevented another $500,000 in boats being stolen.

Story is he (randy) called the cops himself. His story was he was told to pick up a boat to tear it down to get it re-gelcoated ...he stripped it and met up with a guy in Ludlow and next thing he knew it showed up dumped in needles. Funny thing is the bow rail and other things were still on the boat you would normally take off....and the pump was dismantled which didnt need to happen for a gel job.

Very true Kroggy.....   Usually when a boat  is stolen there are eyes all over the country looking for it because of sites like this.   The  boating world is very small but very tight, and anybody that thinks they can pull something like that un noticed is dreaming.................

By the way,  thanks for the calls and PM's warning me of this situation,  but Roke Trailers has absolutely nothing to do with this shop.  Nor does Dana, or Dooley, or any of the other companies whos logos are on their website.    Never sold one trailer to them....    After the Rouse 19 builds,  never had any other dealings with them.   Can't believe a guy with talent would throw it all away with such a perfect market for his trade out there.....

This is an old thread, but I feel it needs to be brought back up.

Randy Letcher is out of prison, but still facing court dates. Rumor is that hes trying to start up another shop. He is in complete denial of what happened and claims he is innocent.

There is a big discussion about it on the facebook group. Randy has even chimed in himself trying to play defense, but hes just full of shit.

I saw this over on PB. Funny thing is I was talking to Steve about him doing the sprint. Good thing I didn't. Also even more funny is that everyone was backing Steve's reputation and saying he was a stand-up guy and don't associate him with what Randy did. Looks like they are both shitty people.

Quote
Kinda of odd...not only is randy not in jail, he is opening another shop. Been working for steve, he had the fiberglass shop in the same building..until he went to jail last week. He has been taking money on jobs and not finishing the work. At least 12 very unhappy customers. There is only 2 jobs with enough money left on them to finish. Superior Fiberglass is history.

I'm heading to his shop later today to pick up my Uncles 18ft Rogers that he was suppose to re-gel coat. It's been sitting for 2 months and nothing was done. Obviously we are not getting our deposit back.

File a lien against the owner. A paralegal should be able to write it up.

Per Mike Newman:

Update, Randy Letcher from Jets boat plus or whatever he called it, missed showing up on June 6 th and turning himself in, and pretty sure he had seven years suspended sentence, we heard he was picked up a few hours ago, and again has stolen side by sides, boats, motors, drugs, heard he tried to burn someone's house down with them in it, that ought to be a good charge, well hopefully you will not get bail, and go directly jail and enjoy your new home, you may of beat the first deal a couple years, but you are not beating this, good luck madafaca😠

If the insurance company Already payed a claim on stolen property. If the victim had insurance. Do this items just go to auction?  If property is at rental unit and rent is no longer being paid do this item forfet to the storage owner even if they are stolen?
I hope people get there stuff back
