Title: Suggested reading ?
Post by: wanabe on December 19, 2007, 08:03:58 PM
OK; haven't been logged on in about 2 months; I hope everyone is well (and welcome to the newbies since then).
I spent some time earlier today catching up but in case I missed anything good, I'm looking for some suggested threads to read that I may have missed and you think are interesting.

Welcome back wanabe !!

  How is "patches" ?

Engine out and on stand (not has bad as the "Raspberry"); I put on hold until can afford parts (which is why I haven't been on the site recently; just depresses me); I plan on being in the water come spring (we hope).
As best I can tell, I need: 8-10qt pan, piston/rod, turn/spin/grind/round the crank, oversize bearings.
The rod also busted the starter when it came thru the pan, but I already have another starter.

Good read (so far);
I like a man who gets a project and goes to work; this will be a nice ride Ralph; look forward to seeing the progress and then seeing it in the water.

 Well at least you have a starter  ;D.   You have plenty of time to get it back together before summer , just dont be like me (worked on mine all summer , done just in time for winter) [attachimg=1]

i brought it home from the race ....barely made it....the tread separated on one of the tires of its single axle trailer ......marc only noticed it as we  were backing it into the garage....we got lucky...very lucky.

then it sat for a few days

then i pulled the motor and took the pics in the dead 460 thread.

and its sat ever since. i went out there last weekend and cleaned up the garage a little and ralph came by to see the damage first hand...

other then that...its just sitting. I picked up a complete carb to pan D9 460 from Skip (Lucky Stiff)...but not sure what i am going to do with it yet. its old and really dirty....came out of a flat bed truck from a farm....skip said it ran when it was pulled.

Thanks for the thread pointers; I think I'm caught up (at least enough to move forward).
