Title: Tapping the intake for a loader
Post by: 81sprint on March 02, 2015, 05:59:57 PM: So need some opinions on the best way to thru bolt my loader to the intake? as of now its stock bolted to the bottom. I've heard use grade 8 bolts and tap the intake, any better ways or is that the best method?

Nope.

I use 5/16"black oxide Allen flat head bolts. I normally drill them all the way through with a 17/64th drill bit and tap it with a 5/16" tap. Then I use aircraft nuts on top.

Others may do it different.

Aircraft nuts are an alloy flanged nut, typically 12-point, and always fine thread. Some are distorted thread self-locking.

I've never thought to check mine. But now that you mention a piece of that breaking off and running through the pump would really ruin a day.

More importantly would be if it were to break at speed and flip the boat.
