My tax lady that we've been going to for most of twenty years passed away. So I'm still looking for a new tax person that isn't going to screw me or end up in jail like a buddies tax person. :banghead:

Keith, I use H&R Block's software to do mine and some others taxes. The software is basicaly the same as the tax people use. It asks alot of questions and you can see if you qualify for different deductions or not. Really thorough. If you think you may qualify for a certain deduction, try it, fill in the info and it will tell you ya or neigh.
-
Also at the end it will run a audit and mistake check, and let you know if there are any problems. Year before last, I was in Atlanta for a Goodyear meeting, and at the same Hotel was a big IRS meeting also. I got to talking to a gal from the IRS meeting and asked her about the tax prep programs. She said they are great and that really the tax prep people are a waste of money.

It'd be a drive for you, but my tax guy is a good man. He's a serial customer of mine and has been doing my individual and business taxes for four years, I did his windows and framed walls and hung doors in his office... He refers people to me sometimes, but I just need to get him to staple my business card to each return he gives out. If interested:

I really enjoy being self employed until I get the amount of self employment tax.
Those of you working for someone they have to match your taxes paid, when you work for yourself you get to pay that too. Sure there's a few more deductions we get to take, but it still sucks.

Taxes done and received. Gonna use em to replace the wifes income for the next year so she doesent have to work and can stay home with the baby. Was a good year last year and a pretty decent return.
So no tax money splurging for me.

I'm giving my refund to Chris at B1 Racing. ;D
The pump is out of the Hallett and getting freshened up with new bearings, stainless impellor and inducer. My wear ring and aluminum impellor was pretty much hammered. When Chris popped the bowl off and saw the carnage he said "Damn Dave, that Foxwell engine should really like what I'm going to do to this pump." I'm STOKED. Bring on some Global Warming. ;D

My .02 worth is that I like dealing with a human tax preparer. Software has no incentive to find you every little deduction, and I don't trust a company to update things quickly. Similarly, I want a person who has some skin in the game, defending me with IRS in case of problems, not a faceless company with a generic guarantee of "satisfaction or your money back".

Yes

And for the guys with the big bucks, if your boat has a head/sink you can also write it off (if you're making payments on it).

Where did you send it? Because I didn't get it ;)
Never mind, I found it in my email

If you call him, tell him I know I have been a very bad boy and YES I WILL call him to set up my appt. I am just always kind of a last minute guy when it comes to taxes. Tax guys hate people like me I'm sure. His name is Matt Croad and he is a super nice guy.
