I for one am heart broken.
Being a kid that didn't speak or know any English and seeing Robin Williams as Popeye for the first time (one of my absolute favorite cartoons) and absolutely bring a fictional character to life left an impression on me I carry to this day.
I never give two squirted of piss when celebrities die but for reasons I can't formulate into words, this one hurts.
Don't lose your spark.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't really give a shit. He tried to hard. Every stand up act I've seen him in had more profanity than I sling in a weekend at the river. He was the white version of George Lopez. On the plus side, the cocain industry will miss him dearly. His movies were meh.
Why society puts fuckups on a pedistal is beyond me. Ron White drinks, but at least he's funny

Robin Williams was a great Icon and comedic mastermind. Definitely will be missed. Mrs Doubtfire was one of the funniest movies ever. A stepping stone to Big Mammas house 1-10 lol. Comedic masterminds always had a very dark side.

I think it has more to do with the depression issue.
Drugs, alcohol, ect makes us human.
None of that shit makes anyone any better or any worse.
Committing suicide because of a mental disorder you can't control is another.

Depression is no joke, it's sad when you see someone get deep into it. It's the number one cause of suicides. Everyone goes through it to a degree at some point, and everyone handles it differently.

Robin Williams by all accounts quit coke after Belushi died. Robin Williams also had more talent and creativity in his little finger than Ron White will ever have. You really need to get away from that whole "little ball of hate" thing. When Ron White is asked to host the Academy Awards or makes a few movies that people of all ages will watch and enjoy over and over, you come let me know. Cuz on that day, I'm gonna ski in hell as it clearly will have frozen over.

I've lived in pain for ... Shit, can't remember when it didn't feel like I had a dull knife twisting under my shoulder blade...have I thought about suicide...sure...plenty. The day you have a child, or commit yourself to a spouse, that option goes away. Now, you have a duty....and anything other than being there for your wife and kids is a dick move. If you choose that path, don't look for sympathy from me.

Well on that we agree. He was seeking help, he just ended it before help was available. I just see a tortured soul who still managed to bring laughter to literally millions of people for decades including soldiers in war zones. That is a life worth celebrating and honoring, NOT dismissing him nonchalantly as a junkie. Plenty of history's greatest people were great in spite of being addicts.

We'll......maybe you are upset because he is getting more attention than you!!!! Robin Williams was a great man. The amount of support that he gave to...... For example st. Jude's hospital. Yes leaving his family behind is sad. But until you know how and what he was feeling and going thru..... Then you really don't know anything but your opinion. And that's really all it is. Feel the way you want. Millions of people will miss him!

I'm gonna have to agree with pat, props were invented for cutting and that's it.
But no matter the circumstance, I don't care how bad things are or what you are going through taking your own life is the most selfish thing someone can do. After a certain point in life you no longer live for yourself but for your wife and children and for that I am truly sorry for anyone's family that has to deal with that.
But Robin Williams was one of the all time greats, he was an awesome actor. I don't think there is a movie he made that you couldn't like and he possibly one of the last celebrities I would think would do something like this. He was involved in more charities than most people know exist not to mention everything he did for the troops, he was a vet generous man. But ironically enough a man who spent his life making people happy couldn't make himself happy any longer. It's a sad thing and it's unfortunately something that happens and sometimes it's someone you'd never think.
But, the genie is finally free.

It was the summer of 96 my high school friend said hey you wanna help me and my Dad out on a summer job I said sure. His Dad was a Key Grip and wanted help with lighting Camera tracks and equipment. Loaded a Rig and headed out to Mare Island old Naval station. There was a movie being shot called "What dreams may come". Got to the location met the security team the Vallejo Hells Angels. Got a tour of an old Aircraft carrier "Oriskany". I then saw a bunch of extras, m14 props that were heavy rubber but looked real laid camera track all night then once completed took a break sat on the tailgate of a truck. It was 01:00 or so and a voice came from behind me. I turn around and I find myself talking to a very down to earth Robin Williams. He was getting ready to do a scene and was waiting around and just talked to me like we were just old friends. It was about nothing in particular for maybe 5 minutes then he went and performed a Hell scene with Cuba Gooding Jr. I was so stoked to have just met Mork who Ioved watching as a kid. No big deal except to me it was so cool to know he didnt think his shit didn't stink and he talked to some High school kid helping out who was a nobody and didn't just walk bye with the dismissal of everyone. It was great to know he wasnt a stuck up dick like other celebrities.
Sorry for the long story but just wanted to say I truly believe the stories on TV about how kind he was to others and yeah he was different he would be goofy as hell to make others smile. One of the funniest stand up performances I saw on HBO like 15 years ago. Its great. He can go into funny man or drama and do both well. Gotta respect that.

He was on a show called "Inside the Actors Studio" where he was basically interviewed on his entire life and he went on so many hilarious tangents.
Freakin gold I tell you....
You could hear a woman cackling the entire show and at the end, the host revealed that she had to be taken away in an ambulance because she was having trouble breathing.
