I was into the RC Plane thing for a while. I think I will try it again when Im about 70 and have nothing to do. I destryed 4 planes in a year and I mean destroyed.

I have a couple of gas/nitro cars and have been trying to convince the wife to let me get a nitro plane, she really not going for it. Some nonsense about crashing and it being a total loss. ;D

alright time for my .02 on this one guys...rc flying is actually very affordable, alot cheaper then boats, anyway i been flying planes with my grandpa since i could remember i still have the first one he built for me...even though it is to simple to fly the hard work and effort he put into it i wouldnt want to risk crashing it dont fly it...back to the point that plane those"pilots" were flying is a third scale bookoo bucks most boring thing you could fly, take if from a guy who has flown quite a few r/c planes...and to be honest shitty pilots, they could only make one right turn in the whole 5 minute video piss poor in my opinion...you can really enjoy these things and not spend a whole lot...they make "arfs"almost ready to fly planes you crash one throw your radio and servos in it and fly again arfs usually go for 150 for a really descent one...you know what in parker i will set up a float plane and bring a buddy cord and show you fucks that any yahoo can fly and it is fun i quit...im drunk and i am not getting anywhere with this whole piece

That last line says it all!! I guess you need to sober up and watch again. This was not a toy ARF. A lot of time and money went into this project and for what they spent on the turbines alone, you could have a fleet of your 1980 Nordics. :D :D :D I've been around model flying since I was a baby, some 56+ years now. Back when you had free flight, control line, the old digital perportional (sp) pulse R/C. I guess I'm showing my age. I can remember when you could by a slide together glider for 2 cents and one with a prop and a rubber band was the UNGODLY price of a dime.

oh no i have had control line i had to start somewhere pal...yea that was a 20K plane but turbines no...gas engines maybe...most likely 1.80s with bisson mufflers...it's cool your old school i respect that i been around this stuff for a long time, still fly on occasion with my gramps

I know that the nitro planes you can pick up pretty cheap...but the 200 mph turbine jets (Falcons. F16, etc) are just bad ass!

And those little turbines are now running real close to $5000.00 each. The motors on that B-52 are now $4500 and not $3000. They are all cool though. Like I said you could by a fleet of jet boats for what that B-52 would cost to build today. Can you emgine on that big prop job that prop coming around and catching your fingers? OUCH!!! :o

I was thinking the same thing about those props. I have an RC airfield about a mile form my house, all prop planes no jets yet! ;D

OC2VEGAS, to bad the wife said no, you would love it. I'm sure Vegas has a bunch of fly-ins, take her to a couple of them. If ya do get interested, join the AMA, and get flight instruction at a sanctioned field. Most guys try to fly without instructors, usually costs them a couple aircraft to learn their bad habits. Remember, get the plane "3 mistakes high" in the air. Google: Bob Violet Aircraft. He's got some neat stuff there. Theirs nothing like building and flying your own airplane. Knowing how to rebuild it when you crash. Alot of the kids like "ARF's" (All most ready to fly). They like to run out and by new, instead of rebuilding. You can bet the planes in them videos, weren't ARF's. "Giant" scale like that were probably scratch built. Remember, "3 mistakes high"

That's how I got my boat as well. She swears she'll never go out with me. Something about her weight. She can't help that it's all the drugs she has to take to keep her breathing. And I told her no one gives a crap about how you look just so everyone has fun. I've still got an old glider and prop job hanging out in the shed. Ran across an old OS-MAS .10 R/C motor the other day as well. ALMOST thought about building something to put it in but I have no idea what shape it might be in. I've got a few electric cars as well. Use to have an old Miss Budwiser hydro many years ago. I've played with them all. We've got a couple of really nice hobby shops here in town but if I go in I'll want to buy and build something... The wife says she wants a new kitchen before I buy another toy. I guess I better make her happy... Need to re-roof this summer as well. I need to be cloned so I can do all the work and have fun too! :D :D :D

I think the good ones fell to the BIG BOX stores since R/C is very costly and you have to stock other stuff (OVERHEAD) for those who want to look around and then buy on a whim. I know the one or 2 we have here have all sorts of other stuff in there as well. We do have one R/C place that does specialize in cars but they also rented about 300,000 sq ft and built an indoor track. Not sure about boats around here. I don't know where they can run them. The EPA and noise haters block off everything they can.

Tree Huggers jack with model noise, there as well? What a shame. The pattern ships run 2-stroke with pipes, which is usually the loudest. I guess I'm fortunate to live where I do, not that many tree huggers here. My 11 yr old son flies a P-40 Warhawk with 1.2 Saito 4-stroke and I fly a P-51D with a 1.2 Saito 4-stroke, both have retractable landing gear. For speed, we fly a 60 size Super Chipmonk with a souped up ROSSI 90 2-stroke and pipe. Neat airplane, accelerates full vertical. The 5 yr old has been flying a Goldberg Eagle trainer plane, the guys at the field love to watch him. Go to a r/c airfield and ask questions, these are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They'll be happy to help you out or answer any questions. Check these out:

i like the r/c stuff but r/c planes are my top choice...once you solo it's freaking awesome, luckily we have 3 dry lake beds all pretty close where you can learn and there isnt 80 million others trying to fly...the community is like boating everyone wants to lend a helping hand with tools and "glow plugs" and props...realisticly you can buy an ARF with everything for just over 300 bucks...it's a trainer plane with a low end os 40 in it and low end futaba stuff, but it wont hurt your feelings after you scuff it up for the first time...it's a trainer...if this is something you are interested in lemme know i got a few trainers i can take out and put you on the old buddy chord and show you the ropes im probably not so good at flying because i havent been in some time but atleast ill be wrecking one of my planes ya know

Thanks for the offer but it'll be at least a year before I can get into that. Might be a good way to get the wife to go, take to a casino and let her run wild with a couple hundred bucks. :) ::) :o ;D ;)
