If it had a diesel in it I would say hell yes but since it doesn't I wouldn't buy it.

Sounds like a killer deal  Black sucks tho, ask me how I know LOL Go for it

I talked me into trading....my blower motor for the truck.....I kind of dont need the truck. But it's would save my diesel truck. Thinking out loud....or trade and then sale the truck for 8500....don't know

good looking truck but ... ok this is just my oppion and you need to to take it with a grain. the ford v10 had a few issues, cam would break which im sure they fixed, as well as injectoins issues. and it is close to the big number of miles!!!! once it gets there the price drops big time!!! always keep that in mind when buying a used truck.good luck.

What exactly are you saving the diesel for? Why would you buy an 8mpg commuter car? My next door neighbor has 2 Ford V10's. He and his wife both live about 10 mins. from work and they NEVER use them for anything else. :screwy:
-
Never cared for the V10 to much never seemed like a good engine. Thats why i went diesel. My 99 F250 w/ 7.3 gets better mileage than my wifes toyota highlander.

That's funny...my friend has a v10 now and he has over 135,000 miles on it. Drives it every day, pulls a boat, toy box(35ft), bobcat thing. Down side is the gas. He gets 10 to12mpg.

Well,I want to fix put my f350. So I would need a good work truck for awhile. Plus my diesel only gets 12 to 14mpg now and diesel is more at the pump. Both my diesel (7.3) have 180,000+miles on them...just saying,

Its a good motor don't get me wrong. My dads F250 has one and since 01 its had a bed full of concrete hose and a pump hooked to it, around 8k. Never really given any problems except the coil packs and its around 180k. But my truck which is the same except diesel gets better mileage towing and around town. I guess its more so personal preference.
But I also have a 6 position chip, a aftermarket intake, and a 4in straight pipe exhaust. So that helps with the mileage. My truck is just under 200k and I get close to 18mpg towing my loaded 20 foot dump trailer. And around 22 on the highway not towing and unloaded.

sure the v10 gets worse gas mileage, but with diesel being more expensive doesnt it kinda equal out? even down in wilmington the diesel prices are always like 25-30 cents higher than regular gasoline.
-
Well if I did the math right comparing a stock v10 to a stock 7.3 diesel its within cents cost wise in favor of the v10. But with the added goodies to the diesel its cheaper to go diesel.........until maintenance comes around.

The diesels have a much better resale value. I've heard that when the head gasket pops its almost a cab off job to replace em and the smaller 6.x are notorious. The bigger 7.x diesel seems like the one to get. I was looking at both when I was looking into excursions...
-
one thing you are all forgeting is the trans???? how many miles??? cause have you priced one !!!!! 25 to 3 grand to have one done nowa days!!!
-
have it send to my ford dealership, I will inspect it for you at no charge.
Not sure where you are though.

The 7.3 powerstroke was made from 95 to 97 then it went under a few revisions for the 99-01 and then again from 01-03/04. 03/04 is when ford introduced the 6.0 which is a good motor just requires some head studs and a egr block plate to keep the head gaskets. Then in 08 the 6.4 came out ( the cab off truck) and then in 11 the new 6.7. The 7.3 is what most consider the most reliable and i would have to agree. Only because its been around for near 10 years and their pretty much figured out. And the 4r100 behind the 99-04 7.3's is a know weak point if you beat on your vehicles. Mine took a dump at 185k. 2k to have it rebuilt and ill expect another 150k out of it at least.

Thanz...one of my best friends is a diesel tech. At ford and lives across the street.. :)
Oil change and other thing (every 3000miles) $110
So having a 1997 f350 and a 2000 excursion both 7.3 diesels and 4x4, once a month one it seem the one of them are at the ford dealer. My excursion use to get 22mpg on 37 a/t, now it gets 15-14mpg on 35 mt.... :banghead:

Looks like I'm going to get my bunny truck for a week or two and see if I like the v10.....win win
