El Capitan #2 ??
« on: May 27, 2007, 07:38:15 PM »
Yes another CRAZY story from El Capitan...   This one doesn't include crazy drunken antics but I think it is still worth the read ;D
I'll start with the pics
Some of the peeps We beached with

Make special note of this one because this guy it an incredible person.

There's a boat in there somewhere ;D

So my day is going great, brought some friends, doing some tubeing.  Then I get caught in HUGE wake board chop.  The engine sucked water and seized.

I get a tow back to the "camp" from the patrol...again... and start talking  about it to the guy next to me.  Turns out he is the son of Joe, and main mechanic for JP marine.  I go from thinking I need to pull the engine to find out how much damage was done to
"You have a spark plug wrench?"  Yep, pull the plugs and crank it over that will fix it and get you going again.  OK, A LOT of water in the cylinders blew out, and then cranked it over....

Nothing.  No spark..  He said check the dist cap, its burned out.  then I happen to tuen the roter and it spins freely.  Broke a shear pin he says, common in Fords   :'(  Pull the dist and just happen to have a tool to grab things you dropped inside an engine.  Get the gear out push the broken pin out.  He just happens to have a dist cap (which he gives me)

OK now I find a coter pin (stainless steel) under the seat that is a perfect fit.  Push it in and  BAM  I finish my day (on the beach) and drive back to the dock.

I think wakeboard boat drivers should be responsible for their wakes. Its no different then running a read light at an intersection. The consequences can be just as fatal.

Glad to hear you met up with some cool peeps out on the lake and it turned out to be a safe day.

I'm gonna agree with brad on this . You could have been anywhere , stranded and sunk (worst case senario) in the middle of a lake and he would have just kept goin not even giving a f***.

On another note . That is why I love boating so much . You get a diffrent breed of people out there . My first time out to the lake a perfect stranger help me out with some spare parts he had and didnt ask for a single thing in return and if I can , I always pass the help on to others . Glad you got to enjoy your trip this time .
