Hi All,
This may be a very noobish question but how do you guys moor your boats out? If thats even the correct term. What i mean is when you have a boat out in the water but anchored to land and out? I tried in perris and i just flat out could not keep it from drifting. I have a sand spike and a 8ld "danforth" anchor but it didnt seem to hold.
What i did was set the danforth anchor out in the water about 35 feet, hooked it to my buoy and then tied the transom to the sand spike but it just seemed to drift all over. Maybe the anchor isnt heavy enough?
Do i not have the right equipment? Am i doing something wrong?

Bigger anchor with chain first then rope to the bow. Sand spike to the stern is fine.

I saw your float out at Perris last week, looked good. But I generally have to toss out almost 50 out to get any anchor to hold at Perris, other wise it just pulls right up.

Looks perfectly moored to me......whatever you did, do THAT......

Thanks yeah i figure its just not out far enough and the anchor is to light.
Perris got pretty damn packed and coming back from skiing with people going through my ice chest and hanging out on our tube wasnt very cool. I think we will start staying at the other beach it wasnt very busy.

Longer line it will pull and dig into the sand/rock rather than up and out.

Ill fish in the morning and drag a tube and knee board in the afternoon but come 1-2 if I'm not on my way home ill hide on the back left side of the island if your looking at it from the beach you were on and just drop anchor and float and swim. Perris gets packed quick and normally there's like 10 guys to one seadoo so I try to stay away from the beaches

Ain't Perris cool! The dicks on the beach probable thought, "Well he left it, so all this beer and food must be up for grabs!" Between the floating diapers, way to many Sea Do's and boats, and the Nazi's at the gate it's not really worth going there.

Yeah I agree... but its about 20 minutes from my house and the boat is "sealed" so I usually don't have a problem. But it does get blown out really quickly and then ypi have to deal with the 15 people to one sea too
