Title: Wacky Gauge readings
Post by: Donjuan on June 07, 2011, 12:19:57 PM: I have SW Gauges and just purchased SW sending units.. When I turn the key on they max out before the boat is even started. Any help would be great. Would like to get the boat on the water this week.

I doubt seriously all the gages are wired incorrectly... :-\

Yes, but if that ground is incomplete, meaning not referenced to either the block or the battery, none of the gauges are going to work... ;)

Pretty easy to eliminate or break a ground point. Done it myself. Yes, I have yet to see a boat that doesn't have all the gounds tied to one going to the engine block or battery. They are daisy chained all together so if ALL of them are failing and werent before, look closely at where you been and go from there....... ;)

The worst I have done recently was to fiberglass a box of nuts and bolts to the floor of White Trash II, that chit gets runny when the weather warms up LOL... :o

not sure if this is going to help but are you sure you oms are matched with the gauge oms, if not this can cause you guages to peg
