I'm not a contractor. That being said, I've swung a hammer...., set forms, put up siding, pushed dirt for a few years and set tile in dozens of houses when it was raining and I couldn't work outside. But I AM blessed with some common sense.....This mess is because some lazy Fook ( or stupid) or evil... or all
of the above didn't do the job right. this is my don't bathroom. it had beautiful Black
granite tile..... floors and tub surround.... well a tile was loose.... I went to reset it and WHAT? USB was under it..... with glue holding down .....(Elmer's I'm positive .... ) no water barrier.... hardie backer....nothing.

after cutting thru the floor, I'm relieved to see the joists weren't trashed. I will
have to replace some of the bottom
plate, but the studs are OK.
I'd like to find the puke that did this and use his head to break some concrete.
no pride in workmanship these days.....
I'm
just glad there was no MZoLD....

ive got you beat. this was why our shower was leaking. giant hole thru the slab. never filled in, just a giant hole with the pipe hanging from the bottom of the shower.

dumbasses to the core......looks like it turned out well
for you though!
the real dilemma for me is I am already literally in the middle of remodeling my master bath!!!!
luckily, I had already installed the toilet in the master ....the floor supports in the front bath for the shower are good. so basically I have a 1/2 bath x 2

One of the many reasons I'm a DYI guy. I can't afford to pay for the best, and too many B team contractors and such, flat ass suck! When I re modeled my master bath, the only thing I subbed out was the granite counter top. Guess what was the only thing that got fucked up in the whole remodel..........! They cut the sinks in wrong and they were to tight to the back splash. I couldn't install the drain plug actuator rod behind the faucet. His first excuse was he wasn't responsible for plumbing. Then the dumb fuck said if I made him re-do the job, I'd have to buy new sinks because he would break them removing them. We ended up hogging the hole's out so I could slide the faucet's forward. :banghead: This guy came with good recommendation's, but I guess that doesn't really mean shit.
At least doing the job yourself, you'll know it's done right.

With the internet now a days you can spend some serious time learning to do anything you want. Sometimes the only value of having a professional do the work is getting it done faster.
-
yes, I do know it will be done right, and I really feel good when I'm finished and it's a good job. it just makes me crazy that people who're IN the business are such asswipe slackers.
I say if yer gonna do a job, the by GOD do the fooking job RIGHT or get the hell out and go pound sand. that goes for mowing the lawn, flipping a burger, or building a boat engine or whatever!!!!

The best thing about hiring a lic contractor is if they do bad inexcusable work...you can go after there bond. No contractor wants to hear you say that. Make sure that there lic is up to date as well the bond greater than job being performed. Hiring an unlicensed you dont have to give them a dime. If they try an sue you, it will not hold up in court and they will get fined for operating without a lic. I value my cslb lic with my life.
