ive noticed that when my bilge pump exit hole hits a wave or my fat ass is sitting in the back on the side that water comes into the bilge thru the bilge pump... what can i do to keep this from happening? is there a check valve or do i make like a "trap" with my hose or something? its a rule pump.
it sucks the one thing that supposed to keep me from sinking is doing EXACTLY the opposite.

They do make a P-trap, but probably wont fix your problem...These cost 10$

Checkvalves work great until they get a piece of
Grass or crap stuck in 'em. I would try to simply relocate the dump well above the water line.

OR.....just put a loop in your hose so it's above the waterline then down to your pump

From what I've seen, the bilge pump manufacturers(rule) dont want you using a check valve. Mine does the same thing. Before I put a straight open dump on mine it did it less with the 90* dump. The trade off is a cleaner transom at the end of the day

after googling it appears that theres like a us coast guard "please dont do this" against check valves on bilge pumps. probably for that very same reason that if it gets clogged or stuck, you're screwed. ill try doing a loop upwards as high as i can go and see if that helps any. worst case ill bring a check valve with me and toss it on in the middle of the lake.
