Some seats and million little things to go, but the big part's done! I think I need a new harmonic balancer, it's got a nasty noise from the front of the enine below 1000 rpm or so. Carb needs to be dialed in, need to put some real oil in it, front water plate leaks in more places than not, but overall, I'm as happy as Brad with a fat girl!
I didn't like the wiring block on the back of the engine, or the miles of smurf tubing the old wires were in, shrink tube and a weather pack plug to the rescue.

Too cool!!! Sounds good. Man I need to get a set of those twisty headers!!!. That weatherpack connector looks totally clean! Where did you get that at? I need to do that!

I got the connector from Jeg's it was like $8 or something like that, a GOOD auto parts store should have them, unfortunately all the ones near me are Auto Zoo

Looking good Skip!

Actually, yes, he's the one that told me to make sure I had the water to it, I know it defies everything he's ever said, but he said a stock pump would be ok on the hose for a minute or ten ;D
Hey Ralph, do you have a particular harmonic balancer you like to use? I need one.

I couldn't find one locally so I got it from Jeg's, go to their site and look up Painless Products Weatherpack connectors, I think it was like $8 or something.

Congrats Skip !! Let go to the lake !
see you in Parker ?
-
Skip just speculating but often times the "noise" you think is coming form the dampner while runing on the trailer is what we call "machine noise" ,noise that transfers thru the motor from the driveline and jet .I manifests itself as a kind of loud ocillating growl Tom
-
Looking and sounding good Skip !!
btw. There is a guy in Bakersfield that sells some cool fiberglass seats ;) ;D

Thats a good point, My boat sounds funny running on the trailer but as soon as its in the water it sounds fine (some load on the pump and driveline).

Another good possibilty for the noise is the driveline itself. If it's "too straight" the u-joints will wobble and make a noise as well.

Driveline has angle, this ain't my first rodeo.

Maybe if I ran it on a mix of pump gas, alcohol, soybean diesel, corn gas and NITRO the noise would go away? But would it make any more HP??? :o

that would be great, never run out then.....

WOW, what a bunch of retards we are today, yea a 1 degree angle on that driveline ain't gonna make it not wobble. :screwy: :-*
-
Did I say it had a 1* difference? I stated that this ain't my first rodeo, I've built more hotrods and kustoms than I can remember and I never once failed to give the u-joints proper angle. But just for shit's and giggles what angle woud YOU suggest?
-

Wait, let me post it on 3 different sites and i will get back to you ;D

lmfao, this thread is priceless.
-
what angle do you guys think a three point mount has, i would think that would be pretty close to none.
-
lmfao, this thread is priceless.
Worth every penny Skip paid for it I'd say.

I feel like a lone hetro male standing in the middle of a Village People concert.
Skip, sorry you took offense to me suggesting that an incorrect driveline angle might cause some noise. Not too long ago you were asking for help with your boat, there is nothing wrong with that. But how is it now that it's not your first rodeo? It's the same boat. But to answer your question, I've read around 3 degree's.
WOW, what a bunch of retards we are today, yea a 1 degree angle on that driveline ain't gonna make it not wobble. :screwy: :-*
Also, since we're on the subjects of retards... yesterday I spent a few hours on the family boat. Cleaned plugs, cleaned the battery connections, charged the battery, made sure it ran (ran great!), and then got the gear in order so my family and I could go out to the lake today. Went out to the lake today, dropped the boat in the water, engine ran great, and the phukin steering wheel doesn't turn, steering is completely locked up. Now all of you, who feel the need to, can do a big high 5 with one hand while your squeezing your best bro's asss with the other hand. Peace.
WTF? :banghead:

Rod-
I asked the questions to gain knowledge, once I found that the angle of the dangle is the same across the board (cars or boats) it made sense, I set it up with 4* of difference per Jim Brock, but thank you for your advice and in all honesty, thanks for the heads up on the angle, I did go and double check it after your post. As for your family boat, is it possibly the cable or does it have a rack system in it? My dad's I/O had a rack system that went to shit over the winter once, worked bitchin' when he parked it, stuck like all hell the next spring.
-
at least it didnt catch on fire this time.

I don't know what you know, all I know is what I know, and so I offered you a tiny tidbit of info that may have helped you to figure out the noise you're hearing. Apparently I was wrong in that, because you already knew the answer.
Honestly Skip, I'd have to go through countless pages on the net, still not know a damn thing about it, and then have to go on the internet and post up in 3 different sites before I "got it". Probably about the time that the steering is fixed by myself, I'd then remember I have a owners manual and a shop manual on my outboard. Seriously.
at least it didnt catch on fire this time.
Not what I expected from you but... that a very good phukin point right there! Fires with your family in the boat SUK!

rod, oh never mind.
check pm

So uh yea, over on the first page of this thread there's a video of Skip runnin his boat. Pretty cool, huh? :sly:
