Wet or Dry headers
« on: February 14, 2023, 10:54:04 AM »
Well now that the motor is being built I?m in the area of running headers dry during idle then wet once on plane? I am considering to just run them dry the whole time. I don?t want to forget to come off plane and get to idle then for some reason reversion happens and mess up the new motor. My headers are already cooked anyways ? any suggestions would be great.

Race boat? Dry.
Family boat? Definitely wet, at least under way, and dry at idle.

Even wet headers throw some serious heat forward.

My old man cruisin' boat has logs and snails, just sayin'

Bad ass, looking forward to seeing you run it. I would run the headers dry.

Thanks it should run pretty good? so think I?m going to go with a control valve to shut off water at idle. All I?m all I?m surprised it ran as good as it did now knowing it was a stock 455 olds just 40 over
