what's it worth? newbie intro
« on: April 14, 2009, 03:51:12 PM »
first off id like to introduce myself.  i've been reading the boards for a while just too scared to post up.  this site has been very informative and the pics are great.  i've got 3 kids and it's time to get a boat that can hold more than me and my wife and some beer.  i've got a line on a 2001 ultra stealth, 496, all the goodies, in good shape with around 200 hours on it.  what do you guys think it's worth.  thanks for having me

socalducks, this site is infested with bargain hunters (members) who spend alot of time on craigslist and not enough money or the wife's approval to buy another boat. my $0.02, post a thread in the WTB (want to buy) section of what your looking for, what you don't like, and how much you're looking to spend and the boats will come to you!

ulta's are nice (a buddy of mine has had several  ultra's ) but if you're in the $20k dollar range, you have a VERY wide selection of boats to choose from!

welcome to the site  ;D

Welcome to the site and good luck, with that kind of a buget you'll find something nice. Food for thought. My dad bought a 01 21' renegade last year with a 454 and a dominator pump, the boat was virtually flawless, it only had 150 hours on it....he picked it up for 16k. It's a great family boat, it hold 7 people and two ice-chests.

You will find a nice rig for sure, just take your time. And yeah post up in the WTB section, these guys will help you find exactly what you're looking for.

Newbie myself. If I had wife and kid(s), Id go with either the last two posts. It sucks this economy cause I'm trying to sell a car for a better boat (had on ebay for a year with little interest). Lots of good choices in the $8K to $12K range and with a $20K budget you could really upgrade something older into a real hot lake/river family ride. So many good deals out, thinking of selling a few other cars and buy an sell boats as a sideline. Maybe go full time when the economy comes back.

thanks for all the input.  i brought home my boat yesterday.  it's an 2001 ultra stealth with a 496.  the kids hopped in it and hung out in the driveway for 2 hours last night.  i can't wait to get it on the water.  i'll post up pics as soon as i can.  even the wife is pumped, at least for now until something breaks
