I'm having trouble finding a company that will insure my boat with an exposed engine?
-
Same with me. I have Progressive on my truck so I'm planning on calling them and threatening that if they won't insure my boat I'm going to cancel on my truck and my family will cancel their policies also. Haha we shall see if it works
-
AAA didn't ask, but did take pictures. Their main concern was HP.
-
Foremost ins. my boat has open engine compartment and headers. they could care less and my insurance is way cheap even with full coverage
-
Riptide84 I threatened Allstate that I would cancel my truck if they don't cover the boat and the basically said see ya later
-
Thanks Boscoooo. Guess that angle might not work after all! lol
-
State Farm isn't always the cheapest. I've had them for years and they come through on whatever happens. I'd hit up your local agent and see what they can do. Having multiple policies helps.
-
Progressive here, they asked what it was, I told them a old jet boat. She asked about the open engine compartment and all that jazz and pretty much told me no, then she asked what motor........I told her a big block olds 455 rated at 390hp and she laughed at me and said I was fine........15 bucks a month.

Insurance?

Awesome ill give them a call tomorrow too and beerjet I'm the definition of Murphy's law I need all the insurance I can get
-
Progressive here. Did it online and filled as much as I could "truthfully" since mine is pretty much stock...... 100 a year. Full coverage 78 bubbledeck with a 454 and thru transom headers. Covers the trailer also I believe....

State Farm will NOT insure the boat with if it has over transom exhaust. My whole family (minus me) works for State Farm and that doesn't even help.

Its funny, I had progressive last year for about 400 a year, engine cover and stock motor, and then on renewal they wanted another 150. I switched to I cant remember who for about 400 a year, gonna have to really look at this again this year if some of you guys are getting it for about 100 a year. 22 foot boat worth 10k shouldn't be any different than what you guys have.
-
Safeco, All they asked was HP I just told em "ehh i dont know 350 or something..." no problems
-
I just got off the phone with aaa there coming to check the boat out tomorrow the guy I talked to just told them don't say it goes over 55 and your in the clear
-
Markel, thats who USAA deferred me too, 700 a year on a $10k agreed value policy. boat gets stolen or what not and i get a check for 10 grand.
-
My AAA is 200 a year with 250 deductible and full coverage.
-
I'm checkin into AAA, that's pretty cheap
-
I have the cheapest AAA policy. $30 a year

Had state farm open engine through hull exhaust 450 for 10k 1 k deductible. got a sanger mini v-drive went through boat US about the same for 20K
-
So aaa just called me back they don't want to cover it because they think my scoop is a high rise manifold so my agent is trying to dispute it so hopefully they will cover me

The said my dads edelbrock performer intake was a high rise as well. If it would have been painted black instead of polished they never would have noticed it.

Mine is the stock manifold and it's gray and the old blue paint is coming threw there's no way this thing looks performance ahaha
-
The only one that I have found that "might" cover me is thru Wozencraft. The estimated is $1500 or a touch more a year. That hurts when we often only boat a handful of weekends due to our weather......
-
Okay, quick question, why the fuck doesn't my auto insurance cover my boat when I'm towing it?
-
Because it's not a car.....

I feel for you man.
I currently have 4 leaf clover and rabbit foot coverage. However, they do offer a knock on wood deductible. ;)
-
My engine isn't exposed - I use a tarp in the winter. Problem solved :-)
