I live in Georgia and am planning a vacation to the river next summer after my new boat is together. Would like to somehow line it up where i can hit an event at the river one weekend and and ADBA or Lucas Oil race the next. I know the CP Reggatta is still going strong. Any others I should put on the 'ol calendar. thanks for the info.

Whoa... Finnegan on Socal??? This place is drawing some big dogs... lol! ;)
To be honest... for a get together and all around party type atmosphere... the Avi trip was fun as hell! Nikki and I will for sure be going again next year. As far as a more boating focused event, the Southwind regatta has been pretty fun both years I have gone. Either way, the people and vibe are a good time. Since both are only about a month apart... make it a loooong swing out this way and hit up both... just a suggestion.

When Brad puts out the schedule for 2015 I am going to plan one event as well. Road trip!

The Avi was a great time but it was a huge event...
Im thinking the Fathers day trip would be a lot more low key and enjoyable or the Southwind/CP REgatta
Whatever it is. Ill make it out. The whole reason i went LS powered in my boat is your fault after the TPM last year... Bought the longblock the next week. (long before the show aired)

Would be nice to see that beautiful place craft at a Scjb event 👍👍

I think big river is always the best one but at the end of the year is a good one too in Laughlin, Big Bend

Looks like Mike has been hanging around SCJB longer than most around here (join date '06), just not very vocal with only 68 posts.
The AVI trips seem to have the best parking lot parties. I don't think the Fathers Day Big River trip will ever be the same without the Big River Inn.
I'd recommend the Southwind regatta or Laughlin/Big Bend trip if you don't want the big crowds.

I had a blast at the Southwind this year lots of fast boats and good people

i do like the Avi. Haven't been there in years. I am a bit nostalgic for the place since I met my wife there at one of the old Freeboard Challenged events. Security was always an issue there, though. Hope its gotten better. Back in the day several boats were broken into in the parking lot.
Anyone know when the schedule is made? I'd like to see about making a race and a river run during one trip. :)

Brad is trying to have the schedule ironed out by the end of January, but he usually waits until the racing schedules are posted before confirming dates.

Yeah. My 6.0 let loose. So I think I have one of the largest cammed 5.3s ever. (Used the heads and cam I had for my 6.0)
May not be the fastest thing out but sure as hell sounds like a nascar going by.
To answer your question about the Avi. Yes it has gotten much better. They know our group and they keep a close eye on our stuff. Don't think anyone has ever had a problem.
But no peeing in the parking lot!

I think it would also be a little hard to break into any boats in the parking lot when the partying goes all the way until sun up.

Mike, good to see you here!
Here is a very loose schedule for 2016:
Late March/Early April @ Bluewater in Parker
Mothers Day @ The Avi
Fathers Day @ Big River
Mid to Late August @ The Avi
Late September @ Blythe (Southwind Regatta)
Early October @ Laughlin
I have built up a great reputation with the Avi and have made good friends with security. They are very welcoming to our group, and I hope to keep it that way.
Hope to see you and your boat out here. Been following your build on IG, looks amazing. You should start a thread here, everyone would love to see the work you're putting into it.

I'll admit Avi is really good or the best, I just never have any luck at all on that stretch of river. And it's hard on a light boat.

I'm really hoping to make it out to a event next season. I have never been to one yet. But would like to meet some new people

I just watched that episode yesterday, roadkill is awesome!
Mike, you mentioned only four boats that run worth a damn and don't spit you out or something to that effect lol. Which hulls are you referring to?
