I am gonna swap out my tired 454 this winter and I am looking around. can you guys give the pros and cons of these two motors in my boat. My boat is a 22' eliminator daycruiser. It has a bbc with a drake pump. I am looking at a bunch of options for a powerplant here are two. Please give me some feedback. negative and positive of each. I know with the olds I have to switch out mounts but what else has to swap?

496 is cool but a little pricey for a used engine... 100 some hours for 10,000? I might be confused but I'm pretty sure the brand new 496 is only 12,000 without a drive mounted on it...
If you want a turn key 509 I got a friend selling one out here in CA. He's a Velocity Power boats dealer. 658HP.
Turn key $10,000. Got 5 hours on it and it's in a Scarab with the Hardin Marine Water Jacketed headers for 11,500
Dart block and dart pro 1 heads, Dart intake. Everything is billet or forged. It was done right.

feedback on the olds? Honestly the price was what had me away from the 496. I would much rather spend way less but i want a motor that starts everytime and runs on pump gas

The same guys that I was talking about, like I said he's a dealer/performance boat shop. A much smaller Teague, basically. He told me brand new you could get a 496 HO for $10,000.
So try to talk the guy down on his shit. 100 + hours is a bit ridiculous for 10,000.

Ill talk with the guy a bit. By the time I go to california or have it shipped, I will have spent at least a couple grand getting it back here, not to mention that any warranty isnt much good to me when they are 1400 miles away from me.
