Whats up everyone, my name is Kyle and I'm a new member here looking for some advice. I recently purchased my first jet boat last Friday, its a 1975 Eliminator bubble deck that's in great shape. I just have a couple questions....

1). Where are the best valued places to stay on the river? We want to rent a trailer or house so any info would be greatly appreciated.

2). Best places to have your boat looked at for motor work/part upgrades in so cal? (Always good to know)

I'm sure these questions have been answered somewhere else but I don't know how to completely navigate the site yet. Thanks

As for engines shops. Bostick racing engines in El Cajon down by San Diego is awesome. They do great work and they will tell it to you straight. As far as places to rent it really depends on what part of the river your looking at.

Welcome.

As far as engine upgrades, first, I would start out by figuring out what you already have; block / head casting numbers and compression ratio.  From there, you can develop a plan as to what parts will make a difference.

Compression ratio is usually the limiting factor.  Most engines are in the 8.X:1 static compression ratio range.  This low of a compression ratio does not lend itself "bolt-on" performance parts, i.e. bigger cam, heads, etc.

My school of thought is, decide what your realistic performance goals are and develop a plan.  In most cases, I feel it is better start fresh and not tear down your current combination.  That way, you can still enjoy what you have while you build.
