You guys ever go to Casitas? Not that much further than Castaic and the l.e.o.'s aren't such dickheads.

I'm no local, only been there once, on a wednesday. I met up with Dozzr (from Hotboat) at around 1pm and went out for a couple hours. I saw only 2 other boats out....a bass boat & a tooner. Water was pretty good, seemed less choppy than Castaic in the afternoon. Much less chop than Piru. Parking & launch fees total $15. There's a shitload of camping spots (400+), though the place was pretty deserted.
One thing that kinda sucks is that it's a "no contact" lake....no skiing, boarding, swimming, etc. But for rompin' and doing high-speed passes it seemed pretty cool. We were there for about 4-5 hours and I never saw any l.e.o's. From what I understand N8DAWG lives close by, as does DOZZR, so those guys can tell you more.

What time do you guys plan on getting there? I'd like to meet up with you'z there....if I can find someone to go with me. Trying to launch and park the truck/trailer by myself at Castaic is a bit more than I can manage.

It was a pleasure to meet Brad, Bob, and Kyle @ Castaic on Sunday. If only the water was a little better I'd have been able to get some "underway" pics. Damn that place is ROUGH! If I go there again it'll be EARLY. Thinkin' about checking out Elsinore as an alternative, or another trip to Casitas.
Anyone have any info about water conditions at Elsinore? Specifically how choppy does it tend to get on an average day?

Yeah........ Castaic is better the earlier you get there............ anybody have any info on Piru??

Sorry I missed you guys...... by the time I got back home, it just didn't make sense to go back. I would've had to get out of the lake by 1pm...........

Believe it or not the water at Piru is worse than Castaic. Wind of any kind blows it out. And it's a rather narrow lake with steep sides, which seem to magnify wakes and make 'em bounce back.
As with most lakes it's great early in the morning, but by about 10-11am it's chopville.
There are cool things about Piru....the cops are either really really cool or their not even there. As far as I know there isn't a "no alcohol" law like at Castaic. And you can camp there.
