i was in the barracks. I started hearing the word that we were under attack!! I was like how did they get to Yuma AZ? but i was thinking to myself "LETS DO THIS" then I saw a TV and what was really going on. I could not believe it. Right then i startedpacking my bags. i knew i was going over there to defend our country. even if i was not selected to go, I was going to make it a point that i was going no matter what!!! I was overseas less than two weeks later. and would gladly do it again if my services are needed to slap those fuckers back into their caves.

Come Monday is my end of service. 7.5 years, and 3 deployments to the sandbox later... I know for sure I'm going to miss it. At least I can say I did my part...

I was in Darwin Australia on westpac with the 15th MEU. In a bar drinking beers when the lights came on and the announcement was made. Talk about one mad drunken dash back to the ships.

Wow! Some really cool stories.. Thank you guys so much for your service and keeping us safe. My story is not near as cool or as brave. I was living in Azusa and working for a hazmat company driving a tanker my load for the day was in down town Los Angeles. On my way to work I heard about it on the radio (Howard Stern) so I went to the nearest Wal-Mart picked up a cigarette lighter powered TV so I could put on the passenger seat and watch the news while driving. Next Stop was Lowes in Covina. I Picked up the biggest American flag they had and a role of Duct tape. I taped the shit out of that flag pole to my air line pogo stick and bungee corded it to the back of the cab. The horn honking and fist pumping was non stop all day and for at least a couple weeks after.

I was at work in santa ana. 3 months later I was on my was to boot camp. Spent 5 years in the Navy stationed in Virginia Beach a
Made 2 deployments and one tour forward deployed to Oman for 6 months. I would go back right now if they would take my old fat ass.
