We're still on the old host. I'm making a few calls this morning on a few that I've found to iron out the details before I pull the trigger. Unfortunately its not as easy as flipping a switch. This will take some time and there will be some bumps along the way.

This wasn't just impacting SCJB. It was an entire data center in Utah taking out thousands of customers. I get it, stuff happens, but this is the 3rd or 4th time it's happened in 6-7 months, not to mention the way they handled it was awful. They gave no info as to what was wrong, just said they were working on it with no ETA. They shut off their support phone number and support chat. Only updated their customers through fb and twitter. You should read some of the comments on the FB page the customers left. Thousands of really upset customers who are jumping ship like I plan to do as well. www.Facebook.com/Hostgator

Host gator is owned by the mega corp EIG along with many other hosting companies which were impacted as well. I will not be using another EIG run host. After EIG bought out hostgator in 2012, service has diminished and they moved to a cheaper, very poorly run data center in Utah.

We are using a data center here in Riverside, Supposedly a class 4. It has had more downtime this year than my entire career here.

The bad part with the last one is we have big clients... I.E. medical research institutions, universitys, etc.

And the data center decided to only switch over one of their clients (a large healthcare provider in the Inland Empire) and we were down for almost an entire day.

needless to say we are changing data centers as well. Its just odd seems a lot of data centers have been going down lately

Just signed a 2 year contract with a new host. It will take me awhile to move everything over but things should be a bit smoother once we're off the old host.

Sweet! I don't know that I can handle more time away. I was in a panic last night thinking it was me... Then at about 10:40, I went and checked Facebook. (Being that I don't have any social media sites, I was at a full disconnect)
