Title: Without the Internet
Post by: Blue on January 17, 2008, 07:12:57 PM
What the heck would you be doing?

Where would you find your parts?

Imagine how expensive parts would be or how hard it would be to find them?

I am young but I dont even remember buying, selling or reasearching before the internet. I know I would not own my boat if not for CL.

you would send a buck or 2 with a S.A.S.E. to the manufactuers for a catalog or brochure and mail order your parts

I think about this often and it overwhelms me just thinking of what it would be like without the internet....

Recycler classifieds, Green Sheet, Pennysaver were a regular place to look for parts.  Then there was the Pomona & Long Beach Swap Meets.  The biggest problem was you were mostly limited to your local area.

The funny thing is the guys up north and out here don't have these Swap Meets as often. So the wild assed Goose chase was the norm. But I tell ya if gas was cheeper I would still do that. It is always better to meet someone in person.

Would be searching the local classifieds like the recycler and calling all over town and the country.

the internet has become a way of life...and as you all know your modem goes down or your router of computer and you all become lost...im sure back when you were (wild goose chasing) you couldn't even fathom the internet...you never know what you got till you loose it...i believe life keeps getting easier and simpler as we go on, but dont take things for granite
