I am a sirius radio junkie....ive tried XM, but their selection of rock/metal sucks....and when i did my satellite shopping, it was back in 2001-2002....and at the time, XM still had commercials and I understand they dont now.
I mainly listen to 20 (rock), 27(metal), 28(rock/punk/hiphop mix), 29(punk), and when im workin on the boat, i like to get nostalgic and listen to 14 (classic rock)....gets me in the mood ;D
I have sirius hooked up in the truck with a kenwood deck that has it integrated...and in the garage i just have a stand alone device hooked up to some nice computer speakers 8)
-
My understanding is that none of them work under trees . Sooo , I'm out.

well, from what I understand...XM has stationary satellites....Sirius has ones that go in a figure 8 over north and south america
heres a cool picture I found showing their paths....

anyways, I will admit, Sirius reception does suck....it cuts out for a couple of seconds as I pass under bridges, overpasses, etc....I was in San Jose for a business trip and the rental car had XM....I was 2 levels down in a parking garage and still had reception

I actually have both, I had sirius in my old truck and kept the reciver and in the new truck I have XM i like some of the channels on Sirius and XM they are both good, soon they will merge and become one organization so it will not matter which one you got.
-
I got XM. It came with the truck. The dealer installed it and now I'm hooked too.
-
It's easy, if your fockin gay you got XM, if you're hetro you got Sirius, if you ain't got either you will never get or have a dikk.
-
im partial to Sirius too but it wont matter soon. hey Brad check out 23(hair nation) take ya back to the big hair days O0
-
I had XM last year and always found myself hunting for channels. I couldn't find a channel that I enjoyed and could just keep on. The new truck came with one year of Sirius and I love it. The wife discovered Hair Nation, too.

I have XM in all my rides.I have had it for a long time.I like it.The uncensored comedy is my favorite channel.I have an extra XM radio that I'm going to put in my boat. The two companies are supposed to merge together.I'm curious to see how that will work.
-
If and when they merge that will be all great , but the real situation at hand here is , will it work under trees.

i dont know i will find out this weekend i know that it faded in and out under some overpasses but not all :-\
-
i have both xm and sirius..... i listen howard usually during the workday. my favorite channel on XM has gotta be top tracks. i never really listened to any other channels on either.
-
Satelite radio's need to "see" the transmitter (a satilite). If the antenna is covered with a large tree, bridge, garage, etc.. it will not receive channels. :-\
Thank the FCC for even needing satelite radio. >:(
-
I have had XM for 2 yrs and I like it alot. Reception is no better or worse than many "regular" stations although sometimes it cuts out where you wouldn't think it would like going down 5 or 99 in central Cali - no bridges mountains or trees. I am hooked on the Boneyard and Fungus. It is a shame that mainstream radio has to have so many commercials and play such crap. The Boneyard is a lot like KNAC used to be with the occasional DJ that really has some interesting comments at times. Fungus is mostly punk and rockabilly, good stuff to break the monatony of long commutes.
-
I have sirius and I love it!! I am a big desert rat and it is great to get stations in the middle of nowhere. It also great to drive for hours and never lose reception.

There I am listening to Tom lykis today cuz it's flash friday and it's free on my way home today and he made mention to a story that came up about these two jag-off's named anus and andrew or something and how these two go on and on about how over the top and how crazy their show is cuz it's satilite radio and they can do what ever they want . Well they had some homeless guy on there show as they regularly do . Neil and Bob or what ever there names are let this homeless guy make some very tasteless comments about Laura bush , Queen Elizabeth , and Condolleza Rice and how he would perform lude and sexual acts to these woman and punch Condoleeza Rice in the procces.
That was wednesday and as of today friday they were apoligizing for the
"horrible comments that were made and that they would never ever condone such horrible physical acts to be performed on government officials . " All I can say is that I hope everyone enjoys there bad ass radio stations and the occasional use of the words f*ck and Sh*t cuz it's only a matter of time before the FCC makes there way into that area of broadcasting.
As a side note I really think it sucks that a couple of dumbsh*ts can possibly ruin a great thing . I've listened to xm at a nieghbors house and the rock and metal stations kicked some serious ass .

Politics and religion, the two easiest ways to start an argument. ;)
I don't see how they could regulate satelite radio, but give Bush some time and I'm sure he'll be able to figure out how to regulate satelite radio! >:(

It's only a matter time the way I see it . Everyone that goes to E.T. radio makes such a huge deal about all the crazy and out of control sh*t their gonna do . Thats a huge middle finger to the gubment the way I see it .
