Taking my boat out to echo lodge next weekend . planning on leaving the boat on the water the whole time . What is the proper way to set a anchor
and ensure the current doesnt take my boat away . also i have yet to purchase a anchor , anybody know where i can get a decent one cheap The ones at my local boat store are boxed aluminum ones and 200 dollars . way over my budget . Thanks alot

I BOUGHT A BOX ANCHOR FROM THIS GUY ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. HE TOOK $100

IF NOT, BOATERS WORLD IS BLOWING ANCHOR PACKAGES WITH A BOUY AND ROPE FOR LIKE $50 OR $60.
SETTING YOUR ANCHOR AT ECHO.....
CRUISE UP RIVER ABOUT 30 FEET OFF THE SHORE (ABOUT 15 FEET PASS THE GRASS IN THE WATER) AND GO ABOUT HALF WAY INTO THE CAMP SITE NEXT TO YOU, MAKE SURE IT IS CONNECTED AND GIVE HER A TOSS. PUT IT IN NUETRAL OR KILL THE ENGINGE. LET THE ANCHOR CATCH. HOOK UR ROPE TO THE BACK OF THE BOAT AND SWIM TO SHORE. PULL THE BOAT SO IT IS POINTING AT ABOUT 10-11 O'CLOCK ACROSS THE RIVER AND TIE IT UP.
WITH THAT BOX ANCHOR YOU'LL BE GOOD FOREVER, BUT WITH A REGULAR ANCHOR YOU MIGHT BE OUT THERE DOING IT AGAIN WHEN IT GETS CHOPPY AS HELL AROUND 1 PM.

I bought my box anchor at Spanky's in Parker. Good people, decent pricing.

The chain is as important as the anchor - I think it is 0ne foot for every five foot of boat.

box anchor and a sand spike, can't go wrong, we will be there next weekend also, staying at the bluewater, if you see us swing in for a river soda :)
