Well jet boat owners, like last year I am going to lead the pack and start the 2008 Jet boat bash at AVI again. We had a great turn out last July and I am going to contact group sales again and arrange for this event again. We all received a great rate there and I will start the process of getting the NON Official event going. I am going to say for July 18th-20th. I hope everyone will follow again as well and reply to the thread and add your name on the list. I just spoke to Jesse in group sales and we will get the $80 a night for a standard two queen non smoking room. Remember, you have to register via the phone and call AVI and give them your group rate CODE which is GDUNN08. Last year some people registered online through other means and didnt get the discount. So, here we go again,

youre not going to get much of a hookup at the bluewater. i think omar looked into this for our parker gathering in 2 weeks.....we're mostly all staying at the bridge inn.
im not trying to speak for everyone here...what is everyone elses opinion of the avi?

I am open as well and can edit the POST :) I would like to just not fork out $100 + a night and I called Blue water a few mins ago and they didnt offer much. If you had AAA it was $131 a night..ouch!

personally, i havent been to the bluewater on a non race weekend so i dont know how it is....but what i dont like about the blue water is that the no wake zone extends way past the beach.

too much lake lice. $80 aint all that good either. unless it's a big weekend they have two day packages for $99 in the off season

Parker and Havasu are too much like being in the ocean! Lets go somewhere with a sand bar so people can make passes and race each other!

Well AVI has the river, the beach, etc. it might not be the best spot around but its better than Mo Choppy. I havent been too Blue Water and if everyone feels that blows as well i would like too hear more suggestions.

i think you found your spot, it might be more of a drive for some of us...less for others, but overall, it looks to be accommodating to all with less traffic from larger boats.....and their summer rates are still pretty decent even without a group discounted rate.

I would love to go to the Martinez area as I have heard lots of good things. But I always wanted to go with people who knew the river (and the sand bars ) well as the new boat is a bit deeper drafted than my old one. I'm not crazy about the crowds in Parker or the distances you have to travel at Havazoo to find some place to yourself. Count the GlassCutters in if y'all wanna plan a trip to the southern river areas. :D

Well i dont think the Avi rents any canoe's , But i have a line on a couple of BBC engines and im hoping to have it in the water by July...... These are going to be junkyard engines and only temporary. Im still building the BBC ass kicker :o
So if you are going to be @ the Avi in July. I would like to join with My Bahner ;D

It can be. Best to follow someone that knows there way around the sandbars. But even if you hit a sandbar with the outdrive, it shouldn't do much if any damage at all to it, the sand is soft, and there are NO rocks. Been running an outdrive out there for years, and if yah hit a sandbar just raise the trim and push off. And just keep an eye out, you can see where it turns shallow from the color of the water

I've also ran a 24,28,32'er there too. Plus there is a lake just off the main river called Ferguson. You can make 100+ passes there! :sly:

The Avi is an indian owned casino on the water between needles and laughlin. Kinda like the bluewater.

Thats true, stay to the side's............ We got the Omega stuck in the middle of the river, just jumped out and pushed it off. No i wasnt driving....... You could see the ripples in the water, but my father in law didnt..

IMO The AVI suks major asss, the water current at the ramp is :banghead: the dumbest location for a ramp I've ever seen. Jet skier's everywhere, everywhere. I'll never go back to that sh!thole. Just my cheery .02

You dont have to launch there and i agree the lake lice was everywhere out there but again, its everywhere is it not? I myself enjoyed the beach, the location and if you spend time out on the river or going down to Moabi it makes for a nice day as well. Regardless I am going back and will enjoy myself.

The beach was cool, the gas dock near the beach was cool, nah lake lice aren't everywhere - yet. I just thought it was incredible, freakin' amazing, that they chose the spot, of that part of the river, that has the most rapid current - for a launch ramp. :banghead:

Camp down river on Indian land there is launch ramp it cost $80.00 per year for permit camp all the time you want use your ATVs what ever. Over 60 fish permit Extra $5.00 per year. nice beach no patrol boats. run what you bring lots of fast Boats go there blowen flat bottoms & jets. Camp on the water 3 miles to Avie you need 4x4 to launch but with large group who cares, Avie rs can float down to camp beach, not to many jet skies down there. lots of beach to set up camp on good time there. camp out with real world bugs,snakes, Blood suckers, SAV and I can go home at night at least I can he may have to sleep in Boat. You can camp Needles to and come up river :banghead:

we're staying in Laughlin. Launching at Big Bend (due to the current and lake lice) and boating down to the Sand Bar making stops along the way.....hate sitting on the beach!

When I launched at Big Bend we had a guy anchored waiting for us, he got hit TWICE by skis. Then the fish cops where there telling me not to start my boat on the ramp cuz they're investigating an accident, two skis. THEN when I got back to the ramp the ranger was there all pissed cuz the ramp closes at like 7:00.

I can no longer keep track of who shows and who blows but damn people, what is the excuse for not getting in the car and tripping on down to have a beer or two just to say HI! It was kinda hard to meet everyone out on the water since we were spread from the dam to the other damn dam but how come you couldn't just show your faces and have some beers? I just gotta know...

Mines more than ready, just saving up for some exhaust.... And I've been working on my father's boat alot. Changing the bottom completely, reworking the pump, adding bling, and more go fast goodies. Sometimes I enjoy helping out others more than working on my own stuff... but hey I guess that makes me a sissy bitch :sly:

Oh ya, I missed one trip to the desert (that I said I was going to) woo :screwy: I had truck problems. And then the next trip, I drove down for the day, so I wouldn't warlock out! So WTF..............

Somebody thinks that we have as much help as they have, but its just the opposite.......I dont have nobody i can borrow parts from to get my boat in the water ??? Regardless i have no idea what i am doing, but im doing it with the little bit of money i have to do it with......
I had to go to 4 different parts stores today to find head gaskets for a freakin BBC 454.......yeah, i bet you dont have that problem do you, you have all the marine store right there and get good pricing while were paying shipping charges.....More money taking away from our progress on our boats......

I have been so busy guys for over a month with all the Fires in the state I havent been online to follow up with what is going on. I am going to try my best too make the event. Its been very hard for me for over 2 months of work, EMT school and now trying to get to the AVI. I will hopefully be there on Friday.

Well i wasn't at the Avi , i was about a mile up river, seen alot of familiar boats... Pee Dub stopped by and i got to check out his ride...... Nice very nice. way to go Pee Dub ;)

So they put on the back up prop before i even got there.

Boat ran like shit spent all day working on it on the beach!! had no top end. About three hours later they tell me they changed the prop and it's a different size and pitch :banghead:

Need to find a few more props that are they same size and pitch, but it's for a Volvo and i hear they are hard to find.... Needless to say i didn't take any boat rides

So they put on the back up prop before i even got there.

Boat ran like shit spent all day working on it on the beach!! had no top end. About three hours later they tell me they changed the prop and it's a different size and pitch :banghead:

Need to find a few more props that are they same size and pitch, but it's for a Volvo and i hear they are hard to find.... Needless to say i didn't take any boat rides

OOOH, forgot, I have converted some big "dumbo eared" props from Merc's to the Volvo propshaft before too, they work pretty good and all that is needed is the Volvo hub, pretty cheap...

I may have you covered, 14" diameter with a 19" pitch RH BTW you can change the rotation of the propshaft in about 10 min. so you can also use left hand props. I will take a look this afternoon as to what props I have for a Volvo.

The adapter , will it allow you to use different props? I mean they dont have to be specifically for a volvo drive.. Like i said before i don't do this prop stuff very well ???

I believe what it was,was that the prop I bought at Needles Marina was for a Merc outdrive and the adapter allowed it to fit my Volvo.....it was about 2 years ago....

yup that was mine.. thanks she did run pretty good lastweekend.. its got a 454 bored 60 over, all roller motor, dart aluminum heads, single 1050 dominator. its actualy got a wayyyyy to big of cam in it, i think it will go alot faster when i have it cut down. and then i had jack do some magic on the pump. What boat did u have out there? whens the next trip???? ;D

Well another river trip in the books. It was great hanging out with all of you guys. Wish i could of stayed longer,but at least we made it out there.

It was set up for a single dominator . Dont know if that makes a diffrence or not to you but I've heard the drawback to the dom. set-up is that fuel will puddle (I dont mean alittle either) in the carb base . I originally posted the pictures for the dude who sold it .
