I have a group of about 50-80 people who want to go camping. We have done this a few times in northern NV. but now people want to bring the party to MoChoppy. Looking for a cove that could be accessed by 4x4 to haul in some of the stuff but want it to be pretty private, especially by boat. Looking at mid-Sept. as the weather should be good but the crowds will have left hopefully. Anybody got any leads?

I know of a few coves you can drive up to, but there lies another problem, alot of other people know that road...the one cove is called aztec cove and its a pretty sweet cove

What part of the lake do you want to camp at? Do you want to camp south by Katherines? Or further north? If you stay south by katherines there is one cove called telephone cove nv side, you can access it with 4x4 but it is by no means "private". A lot of people go there. As far as the az side by katherines I don't know of any that you can drive down to and camp. I have seen people on quads and trucks at some coves on the az side but have no idea how they got there. There are quad and dirtbike trails that lead everywhere out there. In September lake mohave shouldn't be too bad, just have to watch out for the monsoons that pop up in the afternoons. They will make it like the deadliest catch out there.

Go on google earth and do some searching by satellite!

X2 on Telephone cove on the NV side. If you guys wanted to boat your stuff out, there are alot of nice beaches between Katherine's and the dam on the AZ side. Then your only 5 mins away from the ramp.
The north part of the lake is nice but I don't think there are too many roads to access the lake other than the marinas. The couple of times I've been out there we launched out of Cottonwood and went north, at least a 20 min boat ride. And like Nixon said if you get a monsoon or if the wind picks up, you really don't want to be driving too far out on the lake.

Leave all your camping gear at home. hit the lake about 4:00pm and you'll find many deserted fully stocked campsites. they left it just for you >:D. Might need to bring your beer of choice, but everything else is usually available, and ya don't have to lug around a bunch of chit, and usually located on the NICEST beaches :beer: :beer:.
A cove about 6-7 miles No. of Princess cove, AZ side is usually empty, 3/4 the size of telephone cove Nv. 15-20 boats EASY, maybe more, nice swimming, beaching the boat, tent camping, etc.
Theres eldorado canyon, (Nv) sandy beaches, no real boat launch, lotsa PWC and its 10+/- mi no. of Cottonwood cove, seen many RV's on the shores before.
Mid Sept (still 100*) is pretty hot, but cools off at night, and the crowds are still there, it usually dosent taper off till the first of Oct.

Thanks for the info everyone. These guys bring a pool table, dance pole/stage and a real bar, 25x25 dancefloor, shower rig on a trailer, plus a buffet for Sat. night dinner. Honestly too much more to list. So being able to be isolated is a must or "tourists" tend to want to get in on the fun. Ya they go waaay over the top, but hey go big or go home right? Some of the supplies were brought in on horseback at the last one in Silver Springs NV.

Thanks for looking out. I was all over that sat map yesterday and there really doesn't seem to be much access to most of the lake in that area. I'll pass along the pic. Thanks again.

Nobody brings the party like my boys from Tahoe. The sound system and light show is over the top. I think there were over 100 people at the last one.
