Yeah, I know it's June, I know we just got done with the Father's Day bash, BUT it's time to start planning this one.
The Annual Unofficial SCJB Fall Fling Friday October 8 2010 to Monday October 11 2010. Headquarters will be The Avi Hotel & Casino, on the water 10 miles South of Laughlin Nevada.

Somehow, and I dunno how, he must have a spy or satellite network around my place, but Rivertard caught wind of some of the things Moo is going through right now besides the engine. (I been treating the garage and backyard like Area 51 the last couple of weeks, don't know HOW he knows!, But he's kinda calling me out on this deal!).

Sounds like a great idea Harry! I've never driven a prop boat on that section of river, but I sure see a lot of 'em up running between Needles and Avi.

I take it your coming from havi? from the lake to the needles bridge your fine. after the bridge theres a good sandbar on the ca side so follow the az side all the way untill you start seeing the "do not anchor or dredge gas pipeline croosing" signs. at that point read the water, stay on the az side until you see the water chopping up and then you should start heading towards the ca side and then back az side. its very apparent through there where the channel is just watch the water. and as soon as you get past willow valley marina your clear up until the sandy beaches and just hug the az side all the way thru there. after the beaches set her about dead center in the river and you should be fine until the avi :thumbup: just watch the water you can see it crashing against the sand bars stay were its calm. and dont let seeing the bottom discorage you the water is the clearest ive seen it in a long time.

I've only been in that area one time for the first unofficial SCJB/AVI event, and was impressed at how good the water conditions were.

what also sucks is they are real strict about dogs on the beach too.

You should be perfectly fine. Just have someone distract the launch ramp security guy if you're gonna attempt a shot at roosting the bridge.........
I still contend I did NOT hit it, and he didn't actually see Mike actually dousche the hell out of the thing (Too busy yelling at me), but saw the water dripping from the bridge.......we both got an earful anyways...... ::)
Last year, we waited, mostly for everyone to get up, get breakfast and hangovers TCO. I think we coulda been on much earlier than we were. Bowrider and Rivertard were just there the past weekend, they'd know better what the conditions are right now though.

Conditions were just right for me. Except for sucking up lagoon lizards in the pump coming out of Lazy Harrys. Next trip should be pretty fun as well.

The last time my boat was out the PD control buttons just crumbled into dust when I went to use them. JBP sent me a slick new set-up in their usual quick manner. I opened the package just to confirm what it was, and then . . . and then? and then ???
Well sheeet! I thought I threw the whole package in the boat, so they wouldn't get lost in the house. I knew I wasn't going to use the boat for a while so I just added it to the ol' To Do List.
And of course now, I can't find that stuff anywhere !!! :mad: Its gonna be a loooong weekend.
And soooo, never having been to AVI, what kind of boating am I looking at? Driving to Mojave? Running in front of the casinos until you run out of room? Big cove like Blue Water where you never leave "homebase" if you don't want to? Smooth, shallow, rough? Info pleeze.

I got a call from GlassCutter shortly after I arrived at AVI. He was stopped on the 15 with trailer problems.

OK I give up. Long story short is we left home at 3:30 and got all of 20 miles when people on the road start waving me down. I pull over expecting to find a taillight dangling or something stupid. Instead I find both main rails of the trailer have torn completely up to the top plate, between the hitch and where it all ties together. Crazy shit, it just fatigued, rust was not an issue.
AAA is called and told to bring a flat bed. After an hour a truck shows but it isn't a flatbed. He says "flatbed will be too small, you need a road dolly semi." :o AND that will probably be three hours cuz they are hard to find."
It is now 4:40pm and I start trying to find a mobile welder. When I finally do find one he is still an hour and a half away!
Sooo long after dark he getS it done BUT NOW I DON'T HAVE ANY RUNNING LIGHTS ! :banghead: Signal and brakes but the trailer is completely dark running down the road! Combine this with not being able to find the diodes from JBP to make the PD work and not being able to find the new registration sticker for the boat, I figured it was already expensive enough trip, I don't need one or two tickets on top of everything else.
You guys may be at the river, but I am gonna outdrink ya all. Starting now!

Crazy thing #1 was we (I) had no idea anything was wrong. :banghead: The deck just filled my entire rearview mirror at a slightly diff attitude.
Crazy thing #2 is that the people waving at me didn't show the proper degree of concern IMHO. They were way too casual and I almost just kept on driving a few more miles to the offramp.

Honestly, sometimes things work out for the best, and I know that as "pirate" as I was running I surely would have gotten a ticket for something. I'm really most bummed that it would have mostly the last river trip this season AND to a section of river I have never spent time on. There is always next year I guess.
Now if I can just figure out my trailer light issues. Anybody in the I.E. good with this stuff? Its all just been redone and worked great a month ago. :banghead:

Gc...kinda off topic but oh well..i just went through these issues on my trailer, and the solution was easy...where a wire passed through the frame rail it got rubbed raw and was grounding on the frame rail...i would recommend looking there first...sounds almost like the harness is grounding or shorting out

Had a great time this weekend (pics to follow).
Running the boat and floating down from Laughlin was fun but I really enjoyed hanging out in the parking lot with everyone at the end of the day. It reminded me so much of hanging out at the street races or cruising Market St/Magnolia in Riverside back in the day (I know I'm dating myself) ;D
Not too much to report from the crime scene but I can tell you that no farm animals were involved >:D

I went to meet up with everyone saturday but couldn't figure out where they were at . When I finally met up with Omar I was outta gas so I pretty much called it a day. Sunday I cruised around to see if I could find anyone and my motor started knocking real loud so I shut it down floated back to the marina

just a little update for those who dont know......my wife lost her wedding ring on the beach saturday am while putting on sunscreen and dropped it in the sand.....lets just say the rest of my weekend sucked.......later that day we called big 5 to see if i could buy a metal detector ther were like 150...so we went to the security office to see if we were allowed to get on the beach after hours to use it ...the head dude said we have someone who comes out and does it for "free"....WTF...I WISH THE FRONT DESK KNEW THAT they didnt have a clue when we called earlier...so anyway we called a guy from "treasure seekers" in bullhead, a 75'ish old dude, who has been mining and metal detection since i was born.WOW....he came out for like an hour and swep the beach and was balls deep.and couldnt find it yet, i tried to give him 40 for comming out he didnt want it......said he would be out monday am when the water would be down .... received a call monday @ 930 he found the ring about 8 inches deep in sand...gave it to security and my wife got it in the mail yesterday...he didnt want any money for finding it....just donate to one of his causes, like am vets, cancer society, or his detector club.....what a cool guy!.....so if u loose something on the river there....look him up he'll find it!

There's only 2 setups I've ever seen personally, and specifically, built for that! One, is obviously Rivertard. Just insane. The other is our founding father Brad. I've witnessed Rivertard completely clearing bridges, and also have a hi-rez pic somewhere of Brad hitting the bottom of the Parker bridge (Rivertard was in my boat when I took the pic, dont remember which boat it was, I think the Pickle.), and Brad did it with a fat 20' cruiser! I'll dig it up, I know I sent it to Brad also. Makes my lil Moo (1.0) look like a child by comparison, which I was pretty proud of her for tagging the AVI bridge with a mostly stock JE pump, unmodified diverter and somewhere close to 600 HP with a close to 400' long roost.

What it takes? It's more what you can live with. Brad will be the first to tell you his cruiser is squirrely as hell running that way. Mikes prolly is too, but both of them have decades of experience driving these boats and you will note, there's NEVER another boat underway anywhere near them when they do these stunts in the pics. Including Rivertards famous "wheelie" where the boat is seriously, near vertical and you can actually SEE part of the intake on the bottom of the boat.
But if you really wanna challenge these guys on this, first are extensive grinding, droops, wedges (Rooster booster's maybe), and impeller work. Second, to be able to do it properly, a LOT of HP. Brad does his with probably around 400 HP and change. Dunno how that is really possible, save a big heavy boat. Mike? well, that's another animal. Closer to a 1/2 TON of HP, mods on the pump, droop, etc that would even make the pump designers cringe. Loaders go without saying, and I'm not gonna get into inducers as I don't beleive either of these guys are running one.

Hey all you guys, we had a great time! Could'nt ask to meet a nicer bunch of people.
We had never been to that part of the river before, but everything was excellent,
the water conditions, weather, and I especially enjoyed Lazy Harry's and the coves.
The parking lot party was great, even the pizza guy had a blast.
Sunday morning we drove down to show our son the channel and London bridge
because he had never been. We even went down to Foxes, my folks used to hang
out there back in the day. But doing so we missed most of Sunday with the gang.
Anyhows, just wanted to say how nice it was to hang out with you guys, we are

Hey guys wish I could have been a part of this since i live 10 mins from avi.Hopefully next year. Boat wasn't running when this one came about. Anyways just wanted to let you guys know if you haven't already heard.....there was a circus at the Mohave crossing event center which is the building directly across river from the Avi. And a 2 foot gator somehow escaped and made it's way to the river...yikes.lol. Game and fish, Mohave county sheriffs, and a number of other agencies searched for this gator but with no luck. But about a week later some guy was fishing and saw it and they finally captured it. Lol. Was a close call none the less. Having a hungry gator would be no bueno. By the way this was about 2 weeks ago. Today 10/20/10. I know this sounds totally unbelievable but it is 100% true.

Missing alligator found along river

MOHAVE VALLEY — A fisherman is credited with helping the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe catch a rogue alligator that has reportedly been on the lam since the Shrine Circus was in the area more than a week ago.
FMIT Police Chief Raymond Limon said the fisherman, Anthony Centofante, was fishing in the Colorado River Tuesday near the Veterans Memorial Bridge near the Avi Resort Casino when he spotted the alligator.
Centofante said he was fishing and noticed something move.
“I thought it was a duck or something,” he said. “I’ve seen beavers and some big fish in the river but never a gator.”
Limon said FMIT Animal Control officers were called and caught the alligator.
“We were searching for a week for the alligator, from the Avi bridge to Topock,” Limon noted.
Limon said animal control officers will contact U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials. The alligator, Wally, will remain at the animal shelter until he can reunited with his owners. Wally, 28 inches in length, is six months old.
The alligator reportedly was on display in conjunction with the Shrine Circus at the Avi Resort Casino earlier this month when he either escaped or was removed from his enclosure.
Calls to Wally’s owners in Texas were not immediately returned.
I'm kind of pissed off that there wasn't any warnings posted :mad:

A two foot alligator in the water............Rivertard didn't find it, and Omar didn't get nekkie and try and ride it...........I'm sooooo ashamed I couldn't make it to try and egg this one on............. :banghead: :banghead:
