My wife and I are headed to Laughlin this weekend- we've done Mohave before, but never the river.
I remember reading a thread recently where someone described in detail the trip from Laughlin- headed south, but I cant seem to find it....
Any ideas?

Casino row is like the 405 freeway at 5:00pm. Rental skis thick as flies. Taxi boats don't care about you, they have the right of way (so they think) There is not enough beach @ pioneer to chill without swamping the boat.
Head south past the 5 mph/harrahs area, and they mean 5 MPH. Bullhead Comm Park has a bunch of rentals there, too. 1/4 mile down is a huge wash that intersects the river, stay to the Nevada side, Its not a sand bar, its a rock bar.
Further south, there is an island on the AZ side, (River Mile 270), decent sandy beaches, some are a bit of gravel.
Laughlin Bay Marina is on the NV side about a mile down, and Big Bend a mile or so from that. Heading down river, stay center, or left of center to Big bend.
Beyond Big Bend, Keep right of 'The Bush" in the middle of the river. River sweeps left, and Boy scout camp/Pipeline are on the right.
Boy Scout Camp has a few beaches, as well as the few islands on the AZ aide. Pipeline kinda sucks, swift current and hard rock beach, and too shallow to deal with the current.
Further south, the channel is right of center, the AZ (left) side is shallow at this point. Lazy Harry's is on the left, turn by the flags (AZ Veterans Memorial Park) Watch for the shallow entrance, decent beach to park the boat, grab a burger and a beer. :thumbup:
Rusty's marina is the next 'channel' further south, has a bait and beer shack. Iguana's (Mexican food) has a small dock maybe 2 skis and a boat's worth.
Beyond that, the channel is on/nearer the NV side. Rotary park, AZ side, home of BHC-PD boats...
This is usually far enough for me on a Wednesday afternoon cruise.

3 units minimum for me, been out in 2 :o , but 4 is better, 5 is like a lake :thumbup:

There's more-
Beyond rotary park, the channel switches sides to the AZ side- a big rock bar island on the NV side, cant miss it, look for the trees in the river... :screwy:
Beyond that, stay to the AZ side for a 1/4-1/2 mi, it's still shallow in the middle...
About a mile further is circle beach, (AZ side) and watch out for BHC PD, no alcohol on the beach. (unless its in the boat :) )
A few hundred yards down river, is half moon beach... last decent beach 'til the Avi.
The Avi is about ~2 miles down, NV. side

Plan on taking your time in the morning- Most launch ramps south of BHC will be shallow till 11-12

Yea thanks man. We did make it last weekend, was an awesome trip! It was crappy up by the casinos, but real nice down south.
We met some fellow jet boaters at Big Bend who took us under there wing and bought us lunch at Lazy Harry's. I couldn't believe it, You gotta love the jet boat community! Guy goes by PS 15 on here and has a badass Daytona 21'and his bro has a 18' ??(kachina splash) Real cool guys.
Can't wait to go back!

Yea thanks man. We did make it last weekend, was an awesome trip! It was crappy up by the casinos, but real nice down south.
We met some fellow jet boaters at Big Bend who took us under there wing and bought us lunch at Lazy Harry's. I couldn't believe it, You gotta love the jet boat community! Guy goes by PS 15 on here and has a badass Daytona 21'and his bro has a 18' ??(kachina splash) Real cool guys.

I'm a little late in reading this but want to agree that the river from south of Laughlin to avi then to needles is pretty great for jet boats. We launch out of rotary park and land one of the beaches usually south on the Arizona side before avi. South of avi is Indian land and you will need a permit to beach it. The water is pretty low this time of the year so I'm probably done for 2014. My last tip was three weeks back and getting launch at rotary before noon was marginal at best. Glad to hear you had a great time.

It's a 02 Crusader. Last year they built them I believe.
