Nope we launched in Bullhead on Sunday. Was only in the gorge on Saturday. If ya came through the 5 mph zone on Saturday we were anchored on the little sandbar there towards the bottom. Here is a better pic.

Title: Re: laughlin
Post by: Ganz on July 24, 2009, 11:11:26 PM
Speaking of that motor do you know where the timing ended up? I got n honest 55mph @ 4300 rpm on the gps out of it going up river in laughlin that was wide open. Seems to me that boat should be pushing 70 or so n closer to 5000. Only thing I have done is gotten the headers coated, changed the oil, n adjusted the idle screw. Maybe I got some crap gas I will try 100 ll n see if that spruces it up over the 91 octane.

Give me a call don't waste your money on the fuel that motor likes a lot of  air fuel and timing was only at 34 total at 3000 rpms

Post by: Luckie Stiff on July 25, 2009, 12:47:42 PM
That motor needs to be at 38* total timing at 3000 RPM, jets should be 88/92. That boat will spin up to 5500/5800 it just needs someone with a little patience  to make it happen. With that single carb, if there's not a 2" carb spacer under that carb, I'd put one on it, I run a Wilson Manifolds 2" billet spacer, it makes a night and day difference. If I recall that carb is an 850, keep your eyes peeled for a good 950HP unit, that'll make a big difference in that motor. You may also want to run the valves, I'm not sure how long it's been since that's been done. There's more in that boat than 67 MPH. Lots more.

No offense meant Brian, just giving the guy some advice. I know there's more in that motor, it's just got to be coaxed out of it. You did a hell of a job putting it back together, no question about that.

Cruising by the casinos is a kick in the pants. Water is pretty cold because it comes out of the bottom of mojave, if you can handle that its amusing for a trip. We like to gamble so we stay in the casinos and drive down to needles to launch. The water is much warmer down there.

Thanks for the info Skip. I will be giving Brian a call in the near future to.

for the money, the place wasnt that bad. 49 for weekends....25 for week days.

its a place to crash after a day on the river....

the steakhouse place is priceless....i got the steak n eggs for $8.99.....i was starving when i ordered it, and i couldnt finish it.....lots of food that tastes great for a great price.

i'd stay there again.

I hate the fact that you half to walk everywhere there nothing is close! also they put the smokers on the bottom floor...make them lung collapsing folks walk all the way upstairs for once! the food wasnt bad at all the the price was fair, but i would much rather stick with home sweet home and stay at the avi! i stayed at the belle before and that was a little better then pioneer...
Title: Re: laughlin
Post by: Brad @ SCJB on September 13, 2009, 10:59:04 AM
skip mentioned staying in laughlin and launching at jack smith and heading south.....this is not a short drive. its about 30-45 min.....i suggest staying somewhere closer like the avi.

i do suggest staying at jack and heading south.....you dont have to worry about water levels much when heading south in the early AM hours from that point on.....theres many sand bars if goin north during the early hours. especially in oct, they start dropping and keep the levels lower.

If I get my boat running Id love to go. I just got back from Laughlin and on my second day on the water (I was there 5 days) there was a loud knocking noise coming from the engine and was getting louder so I limped back to the launch site and retired it for the rest of the week. I just bought the boat about a month ago and this was my first damn trip taking it out and I was so damn excited...what a letdown!  Hopefully its not too bad : /
