Title: Park Moabi Camping/Boating Trip
Post by: 78Southwind on June 09, 2008, 10:05:30 PM
We are putting together a (Meet and Greet) or as I like to call it a good old boating/camping trip at Park Moabi which is just south east of Needles California. There is no registration list and this is not a scheduled event just a boating/camping trip with friends.

The Colorado River Park Moabi Camping Trip will be from September the 5th thru the 7th. The park charges $35 per RV for sites with hookups and $22 per night for sites without hookups. This price is per night for 3 nights Friday, Saturday and Sunday total cost is $105 per RV with hookups and $66 without hookups. Park Moabi will charge you $66 (three nights at $22) a night to reserve a site. Once you get to Park Moabi they will charge you the balance. For example, I am getting hookups so my total charge will be $105 minus the $66 that I put down to reserve the site which equals $39. My understanding is that tow vehicles and boats / trailers are included in that price but other vehicles will be charged an additional $22 per vehicle.

The camp site is site number 16 on the Riverfront Peninsula side which will hold at least 10 trailers. The camp site has 10 spots for hookups and there are currently 4 spots available. So we will need at least 4 other individuals to reserve a site so that we can hold the site for ourselves. The site can hold a couple more RV’s if someone is interested and doesn’t need hookups but again we need 10 reservations to hold the site to ourselves. Camp site number 16 has the 2nd biggest beach and the most room for RV’s. There is 200' of river frontage (beach). Park Moabi also has unlimited tent camping if you prefer to tent camp.

You can bring your own RV or you can rent trailers. There is a rental company onsite that has three trailers:

River Rat Rental
"Holly"
Park Moabi
100 Park Moabi Rd.
Needles CA 92363
626-374-9144

They rent the trailers for $150 a night.

1. 1998 Wanderer - 29 X 8 with pop-out / sleeps 5

2. 2004 Aljo - 28 X 8 / sleeps 8 with three bunks

3. 1999 Sprinter - 28 X 8 / sleeps 5

Check in is 3:00 PM on Friday and check out is 1:00 PM on Monday.

The average high temp for these dates is 100*, and the low is 75*. Hope to see you there 78Southwind.

The following is a list of those that have confirmed that they are going to be camping with us.

After that weekend in Parker wall to wall retards, if I do go out on a weekend I'll hit  the lake where I can find a spot to myself. Like I posted before I've taken the ole lady accross mead and Mojave several times and the only time I ever heard turn around was that weekend in Parker. I think people just go there so they can say,we went to the river. Check out our mead threads and videos...THATS boating. It gets rough at times yes, but Parker on a big weekend is like the ocean.

It's not in Parker, so what's the problem?

never been to moabi, but was told by a local  it's worse then parker. water is real narrow real fast and add the wake barges with two jetskis doing donuts in between, c'mon. dont get me wrong, i've been doing the river for over thirty years, on these big weekends it just sucks. lets see how many people get killed, injured and arrested this weekend..god forbid, again check our mead thread, see if you can even see another boat in the pics/videos. seriously, i hope you have a good time and make it home safe.

hmmmm, if I take the 9th off that'll give me a 5 day weekend, I may have to drag the boat out there for this, hopefully things will be good in my life and I can get some good boat time before it gets too freakin' cold.
Brad, tell Texas she has to get her own room, I'm gonna be the big spoon that weekend :-*

Hey HD Moabi isnt as bad as you are led to believe. I have been goin th ;Dere since the late 70's. Yes it has changed alot but the place is really cool. Thats why I still go there. At this time the place is pretty much dead, and the one thing I dont think you noticed, I could be wrong, is that it is not this holiday weekend they are all going but next weekend an off weekend. I admit the the big group of us DO NOT go on holiday weekends anymore, and havent for a long time. I have mentioned in another thread also how if we are there and Saturday happens to be one of the days ,our boats dont leave the trailers. Its PARTY time ;D  Anyhow just a couple of my 2 cents ;D I really think ya should try and give the place a shot.    Mark
