Competitive trailer coupler
« on: November 04, 2015, 06:57:21 PM »
Goin nuts trying to figure out what coupler to put on this thing. Trying to get rid of the death trap slide on deal that's on there. The front square tube is a super weird size and I've searched far and wide trying to find something that would work. It's like 4 1/4x3 5/8. Anyone with a similar trailer have a solution?

I kept my slide on "death trap"  but when I picked up my boat the tounge was cut off so my grandpa cut fit it in his garage.  We couldn't find a piece of metal the right size so we ended up cutting some rectangular tube steel in half and welding it to the right dimensions.  Works out pretty good now i can remove 3ft of tounge if need be.

Oh right on that's a good idea I wouldn't mind having a collapsible tounge

Take one for a a-frame style trailer and you can pie cut it and bend the sides back in to fit the tubing on your tung and weld it up and then weld it on... Works like a champ! Have done 3 or 4 of them that way now.. And you can use the bulldog style hitch and be bullet proof! 👍🏻

Here's one my buddy had picked up and brought over that we had started on before we realized it was the wrong size ball... But you get the idea of what to do... Just scribe the top the width of the tung and cut it out... Bend in the sides, weld it up and weld it on...

A little mud and a little time and it turns out pretty good...
