my bunks on the trailer need to be redone.  does anyone have any suggestions?

i did mine I used pressure treated 2x4 ss staples and marine grade carpet color of choice took measurements got them all prepped then launched the boat parked on the beach for an hour switched out then boom new bunks they have lasted me 8yrs now oh and I siliconed the bolts also just the way I did it tho

I swapped mine out on the trailer. I just lifted the boat high enough to clear. I used carriage bolts. I counter sunk the smooth top so it won't scratch the boat and counter sunk a nut on the bottom. Then I bolted the bunks to the trailer with a couple washers and a nylock nut. The bunks will never strip a bolt and float away. If you need, you are welcome to use my upholstery stapler and stainless staples. I have plenty.

I've always done mine at the river in the winter. Bass pro shops has the carpet in all different lengths and colors for like 13.99 a roll. FYI

FYI- Just got my Bunk carpet  (100ft  roll)  from Amazon ordered cancelled because of CA EPA regulations!  What? According to shipper-
Also saw a few dealers online say no shipping to CA. Freaking Enviro-nazi's  strike again.  :mad:
Anyone hear about this?
Reordered from another company that uses Amazon to ship and now is on it's way (supposedly) but had to order (1) 12 ft roll that will take care of my immediate issue.  Prefer Amazon only cause I have a prime acct.

haha are you ordering lead based carpets or something?   maybe if you order the organic free-range carpet with quinoa and a juice extractor it will pass shipping?

Lmao!

GT will call me cheap. But I redid my bunks with Home Depot open back out door carpet. Has held up amazing and would redo them again with it.

I have always built them in the same manner as they did above.  Pulled measurements and pre-built them.  Go to lake or river and pull the boat off and replace them.  Have a battery operated sawzall and a impact.  Takes about 20 minutes.

Use stainless steel lag screws.  McMaster-Carr sells them.  Thank me in 20 years.

so get/cut the wood - cover it with carpet using stainless staples and swap out with boat on water and just use stainless lag (wood thread) screws?  my first time, want to be sure not missing anything....

Epoxy the wood as GT said. I regret not doing mine. I did use stainless hardware to mount mine as well as stainless staples on the carpet.

I am hard core, I do them with stainless steel carriage bolts and stud the bunks. Then I double nut them to the brackets. I do the epoxy after the carriage bolts are installed. They should last forever and a day.

I may have some pictures of the ones I did on the Ski Sanger .

When I coated my bunks I used marine grade spar varnish and put like three layers on
