I've seen quite a few boats with and without transom straps. The kona we use to have had bow hooks/d rings on the rear to hoot to the trailer. The GT I picked up has nothing. I'm going to be towing about 600 miles in a few days and want to strap down the transom so it's not relying on only the floater bar to stay on the trailer.

I do have a ski hook and was thinking about running 2 straps off of it just snug to prevent bouncing. The other idea was just running one entirely across the back under the headers. Both options require padding so it doesn't ruin the paint but both seem like a much safer alternative to throwing a strap over the pump or not running one at all.

I figure some kind of transom strap is necessary on these lighter boats with these quality roads we have here in California.

I don't know if that's the best idea being that it's a "light" layup. No wood in the transom just glass.

I definitely would not run a strap around the hull.

Go around the pump and be done with it I've always done it this way and never had a problem.

Ive used the ski pole before i installed my stainless hooks, worked just fine. Figured if it can withstand the force of pulling someone out of water it shouldnt have a problem holding the back of the boat down. You dont need the straps to be super tight just snugged up. Nice float by the way.
