Title: Road Runner Trailer hub removal write up.
Post by: Danger731 on May 16, 2010, 10:54:30 AM
So sitting in my driveway I go to pull the boat out and my R R tire is locked up. Any write up on removing the hub and fixing it up ? i've never removed a hub from a trailer so I'm clueless, also it has bearing buddies. Do they need to be removed, how it that done ?

Yeah, I saw a w/u on youtube. The brakes siezed up on both sides. I don't use them anyways so I just removed the shoes (they broke apart and got wedged). Maybe someday I'll refurbish them. I repacked the bearings on all 4 wheels. I was hoping it was a simple fix.

when you take the hub off turn it over and you will see the seal its rubber inner ring seals on the axle just pry it out carefully with a screw driver and pay attention to which way it faced then if you clean around the metal outer ring you should be able to see numbers stamped in the ring take the old seal and numbers to a bearing shop or auto parts store and get new one reinstall carefully facing the right way with a hammer tap in until  flush
