Title: trailer bunks

On a tunnel hull boat....... Do you need side bunks or are the one down the tunnels good enough?

I don't know your boat, but our aluminum tunnel only had bunks in the tunnels, there is very little strength in the rest of the hull.

Well, they put them on my trailer and I think its f-ing up the bottom of the boat, being that they not flat on the bottem of the boat. Plus the leafs are jacked too. I should have looked at it a long time ago, but  :banghead:

green shows the smaller bunks and the pink shows the how many trailers we had build. Yup 2 trailers and then we when to other trailer company. Lucky me......But at less a don't have a jet boat on a outboard trailer. Like the other guy... >:D

Why? Am I looking at it wrong or what. Shouldn't the weight by mostly on the two middle board and not the rest...

Well, That far forward you probably dont even "need" bunks there.
The bunk, if not installed properly, will put hook and or rocker in the bottom.
The reason I say one peice is to eliminate a high or low spot on the bunk and keep a continuous curve like the bottom of your boat has .
In all reality, that far forward on the boat , they really arent doing anything anyways.
Just the way I see it.

Sorry , I'm totally not on your page.
I've only ever seen them with bunks in the tunnels .
As wide as you can get them in there.
I've seen them under the sponsons , but those were 28' and up.

Omar's talking about the 2 middle bunks. They're  "spliced" together to make the length of the boat, but should be supported at the splice IMO as yours are, or, as he said, one piece. At the splice, you can see how it's about an inch off the hull, not good.

Never seen a tunnel trailer with more than two bunks either, so I would say unnecessary and remove them. Brads trailer for the Southwind only has 2 bunks as well.  ;).

ok, I like the front board, helps guilds the boat on the trailer. So, what your saying is, to keep the boards flat and straight as can be. ;)

They're spliced only at the point were the boat start to curve up

that's what I was thinking. Just want to know if it was a good idea or not. So Should I also put more support in the middle ones?

I would just make them as wide as the tunnels will let you .

zieman custom built the one for forkedup, it only had bunks under the "flat" part of the bottom in the tunnels nothing in the front or sides for support, never had any problems, centurion tunnel hull before that only had them in the tunnels as well, with nothing supporting the front

I've only seen them on big cats. Be that the boat around 2400lbs and most of the weight is in the a$$ end????????????

The whole thing start by, 1) look and seeing that the boat is sittting on the outer bunk(no good)  2) Boat's starting to act funny(no good) I need to fix it or do something about it NOW before it gets worst...... :mad:

If your talking the little pink and blue tunnel, that is a turbocharged rotary  >:D
