Bunkers or rollers
« on: July 13, 2010, 04:13:14 PM »
I am going to rebuild my trailer it has four very long bunkers on it now. I want to use v-rollers on the keel and just two short bunkers to keep the boat up right on the trailer. My question is are rollers ok to hold the weght of the boat or will they hurt the keel or pull the bottom out of shape. My boat is a sixteen foot Tahiti. Any input would be great thanks Ted C..

Quad bunks (called double bunks) are the bomb....Keel rollers are 90% unneeded and have not been used much in over a decade...Sort of old school if you will..

The best setup is two full length bunks and two shorter bunks outside of those at the rear, there only needs to be one keel block or roller at the steepest entry area of the hull (normally the front cross member) and should not touch while the boat is just sitting on the trailer, it is for launching only.

When you get some pictures up I may be able to clarify more....
