V-Drive Info for V-Bottom Hull
« on: February 06, 2011, 11:48:27 AM »
Looking for the best prop shaft angle and V-Drive angle for a V-Bottom Hull.  The hull is a 19' Liberty.  Might be used to go GN racing.  Also, if anyone is willing to divulge the distance from the transom to the barrel of the prop strut that works best for circle racing please post it up.
Thanks

Unfortunately I dont think theres alot of V-drive gurus on here.  You might have better luck with that question on one of the V-drive sites or in the V-drive section over on PerformanceBoats.  From what I understand, shaft angle and strut placement are very sensitive to intended HP, get it wrong and you could either have a turd or a wild (uncontrollable) ride.

Best of luck with your project.

Matt

I will run my Baker tunnel in Comp Jet until I can put something else together that will be competitive.  I bought a project Eliminator Liberty that was set up as an outboard.  My plan was to convert it to a Comp Jet, but the outboard hull is 1-1/2' longer than the original Liberty.  This will not make a competitive Comp Jet.  It might make a good GN boat so I am looking into what that might involve.  I'm just collecting information about a V-drive boat at this time.  My interest remains with Comp Jets.

We always set them up as flat as you can get it, allowing for the largest prop O.D. you are going to run. And don't forget the wash plate.
