Funny, I just got smacked in my Tacoma, and I don't like bent shit, so I sold it. Bought a 96 4runner with 240K on it, and a '97 C1500 with 110K on it. The wife's 4Runner only has 211K on it. Both toyotas drive and run like new. We've had the wife's for 70K miles and I've done oil changes and a brake job. I'll do a timing belt soon. The Chevy with half the miles is a piece of shit....steering wheel feels like its held on with rubber bands, and the rest of the truck ain't much better. A tundra with 200K + is $7000. I got the Chevy for $3000, same as I paid for each 4runner. I dunno why the domestics can't get their shit together, but Toyota sure has it....or at least had it. Only reason I bought another Chevy was because a 4 cylinder Toyota truck with twice the mileage was twice as much....I needed weight capacity. You get what you pay for. Oh...tonight when it was raining, the Chevy wipers quit working....pulled it in the drive to check it out after it stopped raining...now they work. Kinda like air cooled VW heater's I guess...they only work when it's warm out.
I guess I'm a bit biased cuz I worked for Toyota ... and GM. People must be used to spending a bunch of money to maintain their cars. To all you Toyota haters....some day, get one, and see what it's like spending less than 2K over 20 years keeping your shit running.
